Teaching grammar is an essential part of school education or adult learning.

Teaching
grammar through context will help learners perceive the structures of the
language effectively. If learners are given grammatical structures in context, they
will be able master the language better. Teaching grammar in context will help
learners to acquire new grammar structures and forms.
Without good grammar, spoken or written words lose much of their meaning and most of
their value. The problem is not grammar itself, but the ways that grammar has been taught
and learned. One popular method of teaching is to just repeat the correct grammar for a
certain situation over and over until it is memorized and able to be repeated. Teaching
grammar is to show how language works.Grammar will give learners the
competence how to combine words to form sentences. To be an effective
language user, learners should study grammar because grammar skills will help
learners to organize words and messages and make them meaningful.
Grammar represents rules of a language governing the sounds, words, sentences, and
other elements, as well as their combination and interpretation.
The systematic description of the features of a language is also a grammar. These
features are:
•phonology (sounds),
•morphology (the system of word formation),
•syntax (patterns of word arrangement), and
•semantics (meaning),
•pragmatics (meaning of a sentence in a context).
Depending on the grammarian’s approach, a grammar can be:
•prescriptive - it provides rules for correct usage;
•descriptive - it describes how a language is actually used, or
•generative - it provides instructions for the production of an infinite number of sentences in
a language.
There are some methodological principles in teaching grammar:
1.It is necessary that students should use the language and not talk about it. Theoretical
presentation should be very short and strictly to the point
2.Teaching techniques are adapted to students' age and level of knowledge
3.The presentation of any grammar problem should be a gradual process from simple to
complex.
4.It is important to treat the grammar problem in relation to other area of study: phonetics,
spelling, vocabulary and oral expression
5.The atmosphere should be relaxed and supportive, grammar teaching should be done as
naturally as possible.
It is important that the teacher should transform the grammar lessons into interesting and
attractive activities through his/her attitude, methods, techniques and procedures s/he
chooses.
The lesson should be dynamic and based on various classroom interactions: pair and group
work
Every day, teachers should plan to include some type of try, adjust, and try again
feedback loop. A typical schedule might look like this:

How can grammar be taught effectively?

1. Use authentic examples from authentic texts. ...
2. Use grammatical terms but explain them through examples. ...
3. Encourage language play, experimentation and risk taking. ...
4. Encourage high-quality discussion about language and effects.
I think that to have success in teaching grammar you need to be well prepared and know it
well. It is necessary to explain the rules in an accessible way and to show examples. Need
to put accent and repeat complex structures.
