May we all stand for the prayer,

please lead the prayer, Elizabeth.
Yes, ma’am.

Good morning class!

Good morning ma’am!
You may now take your seat.
Thank you ma’am.
Let me check the attendance
first. Make sure that you are in
your proper seats so that you will
not be marked absent.
Yes, ma’am.
Very Good! Everybody is
present.
How are you today, class?
Were okay ma’am.

That is good to hear. Are you

ready to lend your ears for our
discussion today?

h
Yes ma’am.
B. Recall

First of all, let’s review our last

topic. Who can recall our lesson
yesterday? Teresa.
Last meeting ma’am, we
discussed about how electricity is
produced.
Correct! What are the various
sources of electricity again? Aida.
Ma’am the various sources of
Electricity are water, coal, earth’s
interior, fossil fuels, and nuclear fuel
ma’am.

Indeed! These sources are used

to classify the types of power
plants. What are the power plants
that supply electricity in our
country? Casey.
The power plants that supply
electricity in our country are Hydro-
electric power plants, coal fired power
plants, geothermal power plants and
nuclear power plants ma’am.
Very good! It looks like you are
reviewing your lessons! Keep it up
class.

C. Motivation

Class, do you want to watch

famous series in Netflix?
Yes, ma’am.
Ok if that’s the case, everybody
please settle down properly. Let’s
watch and enjoy the latest series
from Korea.
Yehey!!!

Ma’am brown out?

What happen ma’am!
D. Presentation of the New
Lesson

Class, I purposely unplug

the laptop.
OMG! That’s the most exciting
part ma’am.

Now, how well do you value

electricity? Dan. Ma’am life is boring
without electricity!

I agree. What else? Dennis. Ma’am we cannot live without

electricity!

Class, when plugging in your

cellphones or turning on the
lights have you ever wondered
where all power come from? Alex. I am curious ma’am.

Let me ask you class. How

does electricity come to me?
Cecelia
Ma’am through the outlet

Yes, that is right. Another

answer, how about you, Celeste? Ma’am through transformer then
to electric post.

Great! You got the point! So

class, do you have an idea now
about our new topic for today?
Carlo.
Yes ma’am, it’s about
transmission and distribution of
electricity

That’s correct. This time let’s .

find out how electricity is
transmitted and distributed from
power plants to end users.
1. Unlocking of words

But before that let us first

unlock the words that are needed
for you to be able to understand
our lesson for today, and this is
through an activity which is
entitled” fix me, I’m a mess.”
How to do that ma’am.
Ok so listen everyone
because I will only say the
instruction once. I have here on the
board some jumbled words. All
you have to do is to arrange the
jumbled letters based on the given
definition, those words will later
help you understand our lesson for
today. Is the instruction clear?

Yes ma’am.

1. A device that increases or decreases the voltage of an electric current.

RTANFEORMSR

2. Any system that is used to generate mechanical or electrical power that

can be utilized to perform work.

OWREP LNAPT

3. Unit for electrical potential

VGOELAT

4. A conductor/s designed to carry electricity or an electrical signal over a

large distances with minimum losses and distortion.

TRNSIOSNAMNS LNIE

5. A line or system for distributing power from transmission system to a

consumer.

DTISRIBTUINO LNIE
E. Discussion

Now let us find out how

electricity is transmitted and
distributed from power plants to
end users. Are you excited to
know class?
Yes, ma’am.

Let me ask you this first, what

do you think is the difference of
transmission and distribution?
Daniel.
Transmission is the process of
passing something from one person or
place to another while distribution the
process of giving things out to several
people, or spreading or supplying
something:
Awesome! How does
transmission and distribution
related to electricity? Felicity.
Because ma’am electricity must be
transmitted properly and distributed
accordingly to all of us.
That’s perfect. So please tell
me what is transmission line?
Gordon Ma’am a conductor/s designed to
carry electricity or an electrical signal
over a large distances with minimum
losses and distortion that is transmission
line.
How about distribution line?
Glenda.
Ma’am distribution is a line or
system for distributing power from
transmission system to a consumer.
Brilliant answer! So now, I will
show you a diagram that explains
us how electricity is transmitted
and distributed from power plants
to end users.
I will give you 2 minutes to take
a look and study the diagram.
Afterwards, I will be asking
question. Is that clear class?
Yes, ma’am.
Base on the diagram, what do
you think is happening on the power
plant? Ian.
The electrical energy is
generated in the power plant ma’am.
Awesome! From the power plant,
what do you think will happen next?
July.
Ma’am, the electrical energy
passes to the transmission substation
that steps up its voltage by using step
Very good! The voltage is raised up transformer.
a range of 138,000 – 765, 000 volts.
Then, after that what happen next?
June.
Ma’am the electrical energy is
carried or made to travel on the
transmission lines ma’am.

Excellent! What does

transmission line do? Katarina.
This transmission lines operate at
high voltage, send out large amounts of
electrical power and extend other
considerable distances.

You are correct! Where can we

see these transmission lines class?
Lady.
Along highways and fields ma’am.
Great! What else? Lindy.

We can also see them on the

Yes, that’s right. Who among mountains.
you have already seen
transmission lines?
Me Ma’am.

Then after that class, what do

you think happens next? Marian.
It will then pass another
substation in which the voltage will be
reduced through the use of step down
transformer ma’am to 34, 500- 138,
000 volts.
Precisely! A distribution
substation further step down the
voltage to 2,400- 19, 920 volts.
Then what happens next? Nancy.

The electrical energy is ready to

be carried along the distribution lines
that can be found in our local
communities for distribution ma’am.

Awesome! Here in Butuan City,

what is in charge with electrical
distribution throughout our
community? Oscar.

ANECO ma’am.
Excellent! ANECO means?
Olivia.
Agusan Del Norte Electric
Cooperative ma’am.
Very good! Before it finally
enters our home, what should be
done? Paul. A step down transformer that
are located at the poles reduces the
electricity, ma’am.
Indeed, into what range of
volts? Ping.
220 -250 volts ma’am.

Very good! That is the standard

alternating current voltage in the
Philippines.
I am glad that you all
participated in our discussion
today. Do you have any questions?
None, ma’am.
G. Generalization

Let me see if you really

understand our lesson. In some
other countries their standard
voltage is 110-120 voltage that’s
why if we buy appliances abroad
we also need to? Zen.
Buy transformer for it to operate
here in the Philippines ma’am.

That’s right! In the whole

process class there are two types
of transformer used. What are
they?
Step up transformer and step
down transformer ma’am. Step up
transformer used to increase the voltage
of electrical energy while step down
transformer used to reduce the voltage
the electrical energy ma’am.

Perfect! What have you learned

about the transmitted and
distributed of Electricity? Rocky. The electricity that flows to our
homes is generated in power stations.
From here, it flows through
large transmission lines, which carry it to
substations. Finally, distribution lines
carry electricity from substations
to houses, businesses, and schools.

Correct! How about you? Jed.

Electricity flows in a closed circle,
called a circuit. To reach our homes,
electricity travels from power stations,
through transmission lines and
distribution lines, until it flows into the
wires that power our devices.
H. Valuing
Now, I want everybody to
group themselves according to
your monitorial group in the class.
Group 1 will stay here in front at
the right corner, group 2 here in
front at the center, group 3 here in
front at the left corner, group 4 at
the back left corner group 5 will be
at the back center. In the count of
five, you should be sitted with your
group.(1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Yes ma’am
Ok. Everybody settle down.
Class let’s have a game.
’’Complete me ’’. All you have to
do is to complete the puzzle by
connecting one another. Once you
finished connecting them you shall
clap and say HOORAY! Did I
make myself clear class?
Ok, ma’am.

Ok get your puzzle here in front

and you may straight right away.
Ma’am there is a missing part. We
cannot complete it.
Oh, there is really a missing
part class. Now how important is
being together and how important
is the part of something you
needed to achieve what you want
for? Ma’am if one part is missing and it
is needed to complete something then the
result will fail.

Very good! Who can relate it to

the transmission and distribution of
electricity? Zia. Ma’am for example if there is no
transformer or the power plant ma’am,
the electricity cannot travel and it is
impossible to have electrical energy in
our homes. If some roles in transmission
and distribution of electricity ma’am are
undone the electricity will not be
transmitted and distributed.

Excellent! Just like

transmission and distribution of
electricity everything has a
beginning and everything may
come to an end.
In relation with our lesson for
today? Why do we need to value
the transmission and distribution
of electricity? Michael.
Just like in our life ma’am. No man
is an island ma’am. We need our family
and friends to make our life meaningful.
Same thing with the electricity ma’am, it
cannot work alone!
You are correct. What else?
Nicka.
Me ma’am. As a human being our
life is just like transmission and
distribution of electricity, we cannot live
just by ourselves, we need a strong and
intimate connection and relationship with
the people around us. Same thing with
the transmission and distribution of
electricity, all path are important part of
the process just like transformers which
are used to increase voltage levels to
make long distance transmission
feasible.
What a lovely answer. You
want to say something, Jessica.
Yes ma’am. Everybody deserves
to be loved and appreciated. . All of us
have a part in this world and plays an
important role. Let us appreciate others
and promote love to one another.
Very well said. I love all your
answers. I hope that you continue
to value what you have right now.
Keep it up class.
H. Application

Class, we have familiarized

ourselves with the transmission
and distribution of electricity. This
time, we will have a group activity.
I want everybody to go back to
your groupings earlier.
Yes, ma’am.
All you need to do is to draw
and present in the class the path
of electricity from the generating
station, transmission station and
residential areas.
I have prepared cartolina and
pentel pen here, you can get one
for your group.
You must choose your leader
and presenter. After 5 minutes,
you will present your work in
front of the class. While doing
your activity, unproductive and
unnecessary noise is not allowed
because you will be given minus
points if your group is too noisy.
Understood?
Yes ma’am.

By the way, take a look first

with your scoring rubrics.
