Dear Customer of SOFiSTiK,

This CD/DVD contains all SOFiSTiK-Analysis-Tools for Windows and LINUX.

This version has passed our internal quality checks, and is considered as stable. This version is
now supported by our hotline and has to be installed once on your computer.

This QM-Version has been tested for a whole year not only internally, but also by a lot of beta
testers on their daily work. Unfortunately this is not to guarantee that the software has no more
bugs, but only that we do not know about any serious bug now.

Current or newest BETA versions of the software are available via Internet on our server
ftp.sofistik.de with the user ftp-sofistik. The password needed for access is printed on our invoices.
We strongly recommend to use our life-update tool SONAR.

Further you will find a lot of practical examples on our homepage www.sofistik.com. which might
be usefull for you.

At www.sofistik.com you will find a link to our user-group forum for all our customers. Main
contributions are still in German, but there is also a English group available

FAQ:

Q: How to install SOFiSTiK ?


A: Please use the SETUP.EXE tools provided on the CD, which are accessible via the welcome
tool easily. Further Usage is described in the SOFiSTiK Manuals. To let the software run you
need an encrypted license file (NAME.NAM) and in most cases a hardlock device and driver
software for that device.

Q: How to install SOFiSTiK in a network?


A: For a network installation you only need to copy the folder \statik\win32 with all subdirectories
to a location on your server. Client-Installations will be performed by calling the setup from the
network directory. You may update the versions on the network without interfering the clients.
A client-Installation from the CD is not very helpful in general, as you will need the CD in the
drive at all the time of usage.

Q: I would like to ship the animator to my customers


A: Programs ANIMATOR and URSULA are freeware under the restriction of the copyright. I.e.
you are not allowed to sell or change the software, but you may distribute them with your
results for presentation. It is also possible to set a password on the CDB to prevent export of
data from the data base.

Q: Program does not run


A: There is nearly in all cases an error message, but windows will hide these messages
sometimes from your eyes. Our Hotline will help you in those cases. IT-Specialists may like to
try the diagnostic tools in \freeware\tools, but at least you should have them ready if the hotline
calls you back.

Q: Results are not correct.


A: Of course it may happen, that the results are really faulty. But please keep in mind that
SOFiSTiK-Software takes into account quite a lot of effects, which might be neglected in a
manual analysis. Please add in those cases your analysis to your hotline request.
