Version 2019
• Smart Licensing is a cloud-based system with licensing servers in the cloud and client
software on the workstations. An Internet connection is required to use Smart Licensing
Client.
• Smart Licensing allows the flexibility of configurations to meet users’ requirements and
control who can use certain licenses.
• Smart Licensing allows you to check out for offline use; users can specify hours or days
to check out and can check licenses back in when they are no longer needed.
• Smart Licensing Client is a 64-bit application certified on 64-bit hardware with a 64-bit
operating system.
• Smart Licensing Client supports virtual machines running on Amazon AWS or Microsoft
Azure.
• Smart Licensing Client supports Citrix server. Users can run the applications published
in Citrix XenApp.
• Smart Licensing Client provides a special option in the client UI to prompt the user for
client settings and then start an application. This can be used on a Citrix server or any
computer to ensure the correct values for the project and the optional custom fields
before starting the application.
• Smart Licensing Client allows you to update the client software through the Check for
Updates command. The update process preserves previously loaded configuration
connection info (.cci) files, licenses in use, and history messages.
• The Smart Licensing Client installation allows you to load a configuration connection
info (.cci) file during the installation.
• Smart Licensing provides a way to update client computers when the licensing
administrator changes the password for the configuration connection info (.cci) file.
• Smart Licensing Client allows command line options to load or remove a configuration
connection info (.cci) file.
• Smart Licensing Client validates the configuration connection info (.cci) file prior to load.
It is mandatory to load the configuration on install through the GUI, whereas it is optional
for silent install.
• Smart Licensing Client provides an option to load the configurations for Active Directory
group users.
• Smart Licensing Client allows you to load and view all the configurations loaded on the
client machine on the Configuration tab.
• Smart Licensing supports keystore rollover within the project when there are no more
licenses available in a keystore. Note: A keystore is a container on a cloud-based
Intergraph license server that provides license keys.
• Smart Licensing Client provides a refresh button for all tabs.
• The Smart Licensing Client installer checks the prerequisite and dependencies on install
and upgrade. If Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 or later is not installed, it alerts the
user and exits.
• Smart Licensing Client checks the status on startup and lets the user know if there is an
issue connecting to configurations, keystores, and Smart Licensing Services. This
information helps when something on the Status tab is down.
• The Smart Licensing Client UI displays Login User, Machine Name, and Device ID. The
values of Login User and Machine Name are reported on the Current License Usage
page in the Smart Licensing Portal.
• The Smart Licensing Client installation will remove SmartPlant License Manager
(SPLM) if it is present.
• Smart Licensing Client supports running applications built with SPLM.
• Smart Licensing supports SPLM environment variables.
