STEPS FOR APPLYING CUMULATIVE PTF – C5263520, SF99520

V5R2M0

To apply the Cumulative PTF(SF99520) and Group PTF(SF99519 and SF99502) on SCJEURO7
server.

This will require approximately 8 hours downtime.

Plan:-

Order for CD's and download the IPL Link Loader compaction PTF MF35829. We will create the
image catalog from CD's so that we don't have to load the different PTF CD's again at the time of
installation. The process followed to create image catalog are as follows:-

a) Check for virtual optical device :-

WRKDEVD DEVD(*OPT)

b) Create an image catalog

CRTIMGCLG IMGCLG(PTFCATALOG) DIR(directory-name)


CRTDIR(*YES) TEXT(text-description)

c) Add an image catalog entry

ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(PTFCATALOG) FROMDEV(OPT01)


TEXT(text-description)

d) Load the image catalog

LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(ptfcatalog) DEV(OPTVRT01) OPTION(*LOAD)

e) Verify that the images are in the correct order


VFYIMGCLG IMGCLG(ptfcatalog) TYPE(*PTF) SORT(*YES)

f) Please check the images loaded in the image catalog:-

WRKIMGCLGE IMGCLG(PTFCATALOG)

The following process will be followed to install the PTF on SCJEURO7 server:-

1) This activity will start after the weekly full system backup.

2) Load the PTF MF35829

LODPTF LICPGM(5722999) DEV(xxxxx) SELECT(MF35829) COVER(*NO)

3) Apply the PTF MF35829

APYPTF LICPGM(5722999) SELECT(MF35829) DELAYED(*YES)

4) IPL the system with restart option *YES


ENDSBS *ALL *IMMED
PWRDWNSYS OPTION(*IMMED) RESTART(*YES) IPLSRC(B)

5) After the IPL of the system change the message queue:-

CHGMSGQ QSYSOPR *BREAK SEV(70)

6) Check the Optical Device status


WRKCFGSTS *DEV OPT*

If the Device OPTVRT01 is not active, then VARY ON.

7) Check the images loaded in the image catalog:-

WRKIMGCLGE IMGCLG(PTFCATALOG)

8) Mount the Group PTF _01 first and load the balance serial wise.

9) Start installing the Group PTF's

a) Make sure in the image catalog, the images are in correct


Order (command :WRKIMGCLGE) of installation as given below:-

b) Type GO PTF and take Option 8 (Install program temporary fix package) from
PTF menu.

c) "Install program temporary fix package" screen will come. The following options
will be given:-

Device . . . . . . OPTVRT01 (for example, OPT01, OPTVRT01)


Automatic IPL . . N = No
Restart type . . . *SYS
PTF type . . . . . 1 = All PTFs
Other options . . N = No
10) Start Installing the Cumulative PTF's

a) Please make sure in the image catalog, the images are in correct
Order (command : WRKIMGCLGE) of installation as given below:-

C5263520_02
C5263520_03
C5263520_04
C5263520_05

b) Type GO PTF and take Option 8 (Install program temporary fix package) from
PTF menu.

c) "Install program temporary fix package" screen will come. The following options
will be given:-

Device . . . . . . OPTxx (for example, OPT01, OPTVRT01)


Automatic IPL . . N = No
Restart type . . . *SYS
PTF type . . . . . 1 = All PTFs
Other options . . N = No

11) The IPL has to be done with restart option *YES after the successful installation of
cumulative PTF.

12) To verify that PTF are installed:-

Type Go Licpgm and take option 50 (Display log for messages) and check the messages.

13) Take the SAVSYS back up after installing the PTF's.
