delivered. FIrst type is Done for you. in this model, the consultant deliver the
entire
service itself. it is the most labour intensive.Second one is Done with you, in
this model In this model you can manage a specific work while advising on
everything
else.3rd model is 1on1 coaching,- in this the consultant is not doing any work,
he is the advisor and the client works according to the advice. 4th model is group
coaching, it is similar to 1on1 , instead of doing 1on1 you assign clients into
the group and advise them accordingly. 5th delivery model is online training- in
this method the consultant create a training program which can be viwed by the
people, in this method the clients simply learn themselves. (Next slide)
looking at the forecast the growth percentage in india is high as compared to the
global growth percentage,but the share in the revenues whhen copmared globally is
quite low. However, the high growth percentage indicates the higher opprtunity to
grow as well. (Next Slide)
Now following are the emerging trends that are shaping up the consulting industry.
1. with digital gainig momentum the role of consultants are begining to change.
earlier consultants use to visit the site before collaborting with the clients,Now
they will redefine their work from remote locations.
2.bespoke sloution - Firms are looking for consultancies that can provide
customised solutions formulated by first gaining deep insights into
their business. This will promote the role of Subject Matter Experts(SMEs) in
strategy formation.
3.IN house Startegy- The growth of strategy as a function has make corporates to
build their own internal strategy teams which include ex-consultants.
4.Clients ROi- firms are seeking more return on investment and ‘proof’ of quality
on consulting advice. the stiff competition have eroded margins and profitability .
They will likely implement cost-effective solutions and collaborate with
freelancers for expert advice,leaving the heavy task to offshoring partners.
5.Technology sector demand- Technology-related businesses are on the upswing and
Consulting firms with technology practice or tie-ups with technology partners will
find
it easy to tap this upcoming demand.
6.Deal-driven market- End clients, may seek consulting advice to focus on core vs
non-core activities.This will keep consulting firms engaged, with mandates to
advise
firms on restructuring and divestments. (next Slide)
Now some more advances in the consulting industry are- 1. increaesd in
digitisation as we have dicussued earlier, 2. consultancies to develop
comprehensive digital
strategies and revamp the existing business and operational models. 3. consulting
industry continues moving into a multi-sourcing model. This refers to them working
with
niche firms and other similar consultancies. 4.two market divisions – one, a low-
cost and, two, a high-value, specialized consulting sector. This division forces
each
consultancy to devise ways to address both markets, causing a change in business
models and pricing structures.
5.Recruiting new talent by consultancies continues to move from traditional top-
tier universities to focus on skill sets. 6.Crowdsource taelnt - clients hire
from niche firms or freelancers to save costs.7. clients have changed the method of
quickly choosing consultants. They now use online services that let them perform
research to determine which consultancy best serves their needs.it makes it easy
for clients to find a subject matter expert (SME) 8.Between changing business
models,
digitization, freelancers, and SMEs entering the competitive field, business
management consulting continues to require new consultants and analysts with
developing
skill sets. (next slide)
What sorts of consulting talent are in demand? companies need a team that balances
six types i.e A technical- one who is subject expert, An analytic who is an expert
in data visualisation and analysis. 3. a creative person who can conceptualise and
ideate. one who Should be able to manage resources and is problem solving. Finally
the team should co-relate with one another. (next slide)
Now, the AI has affected the sector as well, the pros of incorporting AI are- that
the repetetive and administrative tasks can be streamlined, it can help in data
collection and handeling and finally it improves productivity of consultants as
well. while the challenegs are- adaptatoin to machine and Gig economy, it leads in
transition from man-hour based to value added based models. and finally the lower
