Test III: Discussion.(10 points each)

Discuss extensively three (3) out of five (5) topics given.

1. Why do you think Filipinos are reluctant to adapt ‘ARNIS’ as our national
sport?
I think Filipinos are reluctant to adapt Arnis as our National Sport due to there’s
no proper introduction and proper training of this kind of sports. Also, some of us
Filipinos is lacking with the interest to know it and practice Arnis. In addition, this
kind of sports needed much attention and patience to learn in such it should have
long time in mastering Arnis.

2. What must be the reasons why most Arnis experts (Grand Masters) went
out of the country and migrated to Europe, Canada and USA?

3. Elaborate the major premise printed in R.A. 9850, The Law that
RECOGNIZES Arnis as National Filipino Sports and Martial Arts.

4. Do you subscribe to the idea that ‘every Filipino must learn and develop
Arnis (de mano)’ to sustain Filipino identity? Why or why not?

Yes, as a Filipino who want to practice and showcase the full potential of our
cultural heritage and tradition. Arnis showcase a lot more about us Filipinos, our
way of living back then in our ancestors era, our rich tradition and served as our
identity at the same time it was a practical way of learning self-defense.

5. How can we encourage more Filipinos to adapt and learn the art of stick
fighting (Arnis)?

I think we can encourage more Filipinos to learn and adapt Arnis by imposing or
implementing Arnis as one of the major activity in PE class from grade school
until Senior High School, I believe by this way students will be fully equipped with
this kind of sport. In connection with that, students would have so much time to
learn the fundamental information of Arnis, may it be its history, strikes and
blocks. So that, in the college years of the students there’s no huge adjustment in
learning and adapting Arnis in such, students have the plenty of time to discover
and develop their skills in Arnis.

Use the vacant space below for your answers in Test III.

Good luck!
