Sulit, Alyssa I. Week 2

This document contains notes from a lesson on research instruments, validity, and reliability. It discusses evaluating sample research instruments and assessing their conciseness, sequence, validity, reliability, and ease of tabulation. Examples are provided of research studies that established the validity and reliability of their instruments through content validity and internal consistency reliability.

Week 2
Lesson 3: Research Instrument, Validity and Reliability
What’s New
Activity 1. Let’s talk

Activity 2. Let’s read

Guide Questions:
1. What do you think must have been done to avoid the said situation?
➢ To prevent a scenario like this, it is necessary to use correct and
appropriate equipment and material while evaluating and grading every
work.

2. What can you say about the result of investigation?

➢ The outcome of this inquiry is biased because it is evident who genuinely
managed to win from the audience.

3. How will you relate the scenario to the conduct of a quantitative research study?
➢ In the case of performing a quantitative research study, we must select the
appropriate research instrument to ensure the study results reliability of the
data.
WRITTEN TASK
What’s More
Activity 1. Qualify and Rate the Instrument
Sample Instrument
(provide a title of the Questionnaire
instrument if possible):

Purpose of the Research Questionnaires may be a cost-effective and speedier technique of

Instrument: assessing a massive amount of topics' habits and objectives than
other approaches. To gather information, a questionnaire frequently
employs combined open - ended questions.

Number of Items: 45 Scale Used: Likert Scale

Criteria for Evaluation of Rating Justification

Instrument

Concise 5 It gathers information in a succinct manner.

Sequential 4 Some of the questionnaires are well-organized, yet they

are excessively extensive.

Valid and Reliable 4 Authenticity is guaranteed.

Easily Tabulated 5 It's simple to summarise and analyze information from a

questionnaire.

Activity 2. Search and evaluate the instrument.

PERFORMANCE TASK
What I Have Learned
1. Why is it important to have a good research instrument?
➢ It is essential to have a strong research instrument in order to ensure the study's
validity and reliability. To prevent difficulties with the future research, such as
prejudice in providing the original study findings.

2. Differentiate validity and reliability. Explain how they complement each other to make a
good research instrument.
➢ Validity refers to a measure's precision, whereas reliability refers to its regularity.
Since the outcomes should be duplicated, yet they are not really accurate, a
trustworthy evaluation is really not acceptable.
