7. OVERVIEW/RATIONALE :

The continuing threat of COVID- 19 in the country and the world brings about unprecedented challenges to
basic education. Alternative learning modalities has been adapted to ensure the continuous acquisition of
essential curricular goals. Creative and innovative ways of designing optimal learning experiences and assessing
learning progress has been conceptualized.

Elementary Mathematics 6 is one of the most challenging learning areas even before pandemic times. As a
way of facilitating the lesson, various strategies came up and one of which is the usage of instructional material
in a form of board games. As we all know children like to play and so it is an efficient motivation for them to
learn and pursue from knowing more about it. With this, the proponent deemed it wise to design a unique
Mathematics Board Game which is made of simple/recyclable materials, a Project Board Game Interactive and
Differentiated Activities (Project BIDA) for Grade 6 learners from October to January 2022. The focus of the
game will be on the four operations covered by fractions namely: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division of fractions wherein four players are required to play. This is also applicable to other skills and
competencies in Mathematics both in primary and intermediate levels and even to others as past time activity.
With this kind of board game, learning is fun during busy and idle time without sacrificing the essence of
sportsmanship and oneness.
