ISMT Exam & Assignment Department

Rules & Regulations

These rules apply to all three faculties of the ISMT College faculties (Business,
Hospitality Management and Computing. Unless explicitly noted, all students and
submitted assignments must conform to this policy.

1. Communication with Module Teacher / Assignment Checking

In regards to assignment submission, student must understand that assignment


could be checked by any teacher from the same faculty. Student should not
personally contact module teacher and pressurize them for checking or for
grades.

It is against the Academic policy and failure to follow the policy may lead to
disciplinary action.

2. Assignment Submission (Electronic Submission)

Student must submit assignment in designated platform as advised by the ISMT


College. While submitting assignment, must have citation and references, in
structure (report, article, and brochure) format as required.

Assignment should be submitted in both DOCX/DOC and PDF format.

For IT: Source code of any application developed must be submitted. It is


student’s responsibility to check and submit the code, if teacher could not run or
test the application, assignment will be assessed.

Student with REDO and PASS** grade will be given feedback for improvements
(one time feedback). If student is awarded with Merit, no feedback for higher
grades will be offered. It is important that students regularly seek feedback for
improvement before final submissions are made.

3. Missed Deadline

It is important that student keep track of their assignment deadlines strictly.


Assignment submitted after deadline will be penalized and will not be graded for
higher grades.
Student must contact Exam & Assignment Department if they need assistance,
deadline extension or in any requisite.

Note: Deadlines are strictly set and decided by Exam & Assignment Department;
module teacher cannot provide individual extensions without verification from the
Department.

4. Saving and Storing Files

It is student’s responsibility to store/save their assignment safely. No extension


will be offered in any excuse made (hard-drive crash, system crash because of a
computer virus, file corruption (at the time of submission), etc.

Note: Student must keep the softcopy of their assignments, college can ask for their
assignment anytime whilst studying at the ISMT College.

5. Copying and Plagiarism

Cheating (copying coursework), falsifying data, plagiarism (presenting or copying


others work or ideas as student’s own), assisting others in any above, is
regarded as academic misconduct. Any students defying this or supporting will
lead to disciplinary action.

Major Plagiarism

 First offence: REDO with the opportunity for resubmit (within 7 days) and a
penalty on the re-submitted assignment (no higher grades)
 Second offence: No grades (lead to disciplinary action)
 Minor plagiarism: No penalty, student will be warned first time. If needed
support will be provided for improvements

6. Sharing of Work

Student sharing their work or submitting other’s work, both assignments will be
marked as REDO with the opportunity for resubmit (within 7 days) and a penalty
on the re-submitted assignment (no higher grades).

Students repeating same offence second time will lead to disciplinary action.
