Samuel Webster preliminary hearing/arraignment, 2021.11.

29:

He conditionally waived his right to the preliminary hearing (scheduled for today), which, from what I
understand, means that he will have the hearing at a later date, later scheduled for the 20th of
January, 1PM mountain time.

Samuel is currently in a closed (locked?) rehabilitation facility (since turned out to be Phoenix
Recovery Center in Utah), he went there on his own accord after he was bailed out. Prosecution
requests that the judge impose additional restrictions on him, due to the „extremely troubling”
nature of the case, as he is afraid for the „safety of the community” considering the comments
Samuel made (referring to the death list probably). He requests that Samuel not be allowed to have
any sort of contact with animals until the end of the proceedings and that he be under constant
supervision until the hearing. Defense Attorney says that in principle, he is not opposed to his client
being placed under additional restrictions, but he thinks it is of little practical importance for the time
being, because his client will only be released in weeks. Nonetheless, he urges the prosecution to
motion the court for such an order if they think it is necessary. There are no objections from Samuel
or the Judge. At one point, someone (a woman, not sure whose side she was on) mentions that the
defendant has „little if any” criminal history, to which the prosecution attorney immediately
reiterates that there is probable cause (dead animals, etc.) to believe that he actually committed the
acts he stands accused for, and that said acts were appalling. There is no response from blonde lady,
defense does not object either.

Judge is confused about the bail, he thinks Samuel has not been taken into custody, but blonde lady
corrects him, saying that the 5000$ bail had in fact been paid. Prosecution agrees. Judge says that in
principle, a level 3 pretrial release (supervision during walking hours) would be a step back from a
5000$ bail, but if the prosecution insists, he will not object. Prosecution says they will then motion
the court for the order.
