Different ways of addition:
1- Addition using number line :

( 1 counts)

(ten count)
Procedure:
Step 1: start with the number given in the question.
Step 2: see the second number , which place is
written(ones/ tens)
Step3: see the tens place and count that many times.
(10 counting)
Step 4: see the ones place and count that many times.
(1 counting)
Step 5: answer is derived.

2- Addition using split up :


Step 1- see the two numbers
Step 2- split the numbers into tens and ones
Step 3 – add all the tens
Step 4 – add all the ones
Step 5- add the final two numbers, answer is derived.

3- Addition using grid :


Step 1- see the number given and pick the first
number in the grid.
Step 2- see the ones and tens place for the other
number.
Step 3- jump that many times for the numberr in the
tens place ( coloum wise)
Step 4– from that jump towards right side (row wise)
that many count( ones counting)
Step 5- derived answer.

4- Addition using place value


Rhyhme- number in mind, number in finger, after
this , count the fingers, answer is dervied.
WHAT ARE NUMBER PAIRS/ BONDS?
When two numbers join together they are called number pairs.
When two part of number join together we get a whole number which is called as
number pairs.
We join them and find, how many are there in total.
We use number bonds / number trees to identify them.
Number bond examples:

Adding 3 and more numbers:


Group the numbers in 2 and then add step by step.
5+8+2+9+4+1 =
Step 1: 9+1 = 10
Step 2: 8+2=10
Step 3: 5+4= 9
Step 4: 10+10+9
Step 5: 20+9
Step 6 : 29

Reverse magic
When you reverse the number and add , the
answer will be the same .
25+52= 77
34+43=77
When we compare two set of addition, we should
see ones and tens place. If there is interchange in
numbers in any one place, then the answer will be
the same for that number

When we add zero to the place values the number
becomes bigger
6+4=10
60+40=100
600+400=1000
