Romans 1:18-32
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness
of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is
manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His
invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His
eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they
knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their
thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became
fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible
man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor
their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and
worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the
natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of
the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful,
and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all
unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy,
murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God,
violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning,
untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment
of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but
also approve of those who practice them.
NKJV
1) It is possible to live a life of knowing the LORD, knowing that God exists, Heaven is real but not glorify
(Greek Doxazo meaning to render (or esteem) glorious (in a wide application) :--( make) glorify (-ious),
full of (have) glory, honour, magnify.) him. Romans 1:21
2) Being in a state where you are not thankful (to be grateful, i.e. (actively) to express gratitude
(towards); specially, to say grace at a meal :--( give) thank (-ful, -s).) To God. Romans 1:21
The word Darkened in verse 21 of Romans 1:21 in Greek means to be obscured. Meaning their thoughts
and feelings towards God and the Things of God were obscured, without focus, out of sight.
The romans and the Greek professed to be wise, they became fools (simpletons) to become insipid;
figuratively, to make (passively, act) as a simpleton:--become fool, make foolish, lose savor Romans 1:22.
Verse 23 they made the God “corrupt in their own eyes” and became idol worshippers. Jeremiah 2:11 11
Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory
for that which does not profit. (RSV)
When you start worshipping other gods the LORD gives you over to your lust (lust – a longing for what is
forbidden) to you own body remember that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit but since God
cannot share his glory with anyone, but since he gave you a free will he lets your lust consume you. May
God Keep us. This was the beginning of our society’s moral degradation. Their false religion was no
check upon their lusts. They engaged in the lowest and most disgusting lusts. Language cannot describe
the pollution of the Gentile world.
Soon they started changing the truth of God with lies, justifying their actions with what is not in the
Bible Romans 1:25 and such is our world today we want to justify our actions even when we know we
are extremely wrong. Case in point why have one wife when the bible talks of polygamy in the Old
Testament?
The progression of sin is now clearly depicted by 26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable
passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, (RSV)
God gave the over, to surrender, i.e. yield up, in trust, transmit:--betray, bring forth, cast, commit,
deliver (up), give (over, up), hazard, put in prison, recommend. To their lust
Verse 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion
(excitement of the mind, i.e. longing after:--lust.) for one another, men committing shameless acts with
men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. (RSV)
Verse 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and
to improper conduct. (RSV) not acknowledging God, He made them have an unapproved, i.e. rejected;
by implication, worthless (literally or morally):--castaway, rejected, reprobate. Mind They lost a sense of
destiny, a sense of living. God gave them over to a reprobate mind. A thought is repeated here that has
already been hinted, and is often taught in the Scriptures. The man who turns from the truth will be
allowed to have his way, will fall deeper and deeper into error, and will reap all the evil consequences of
loving darkness rather than light. Those who hate the truth are "given over" to a reprobate mind. A
reprobate mind is one rejected of God. Which are not convenient? Not decent, or honorable.

32 Though they know God's decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them

their foolish stupor choose to continue in wickedness. They practice this things habitually
