COURSE CODE: ROTC MS 1

COURSE TITLE: Military Science 1 (MS 1)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The conduct of this training program is embodied under the provisions of RA 9163 and RA 7077
and the following regulations shall be implemented to all students enrolled in the Military Science Training
to produce quality enlisted and officer reservists for the AFP Reserve Force.

OBJECTIVES:

I. To educate tertiary-level students with military training in order to motivate, train, organize, and
mobilize them for defense preparedness.
II. To develop proper values, positive attitude, followership traits and military discipline among the
ROTC cadets.
III. To provide the ROTC cadets with the basic military knowledge and skills to prepare them to
perform the roles, duties, and responsibilities of a reservist.
The Program of Instructions for the Basic PAFROTC is designed to train and develop PAFROTC cadets
to acquire a basic knowledge in military tactics, principles of flight, other aircraft related subjects and most
importantly, instill discipline thru the conduct of lectures, and practical exercises based on a professional
approach.

COURSE/MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

After the course, cadets are expected to develop a high degree of confidence, discipline and security
in their daily undertakings as well as have a meaningful learning experience.

I. COURSE ORIENTATION, ORGNIZATION AND POLICIES

A. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Is there a PAFROTC Uniform?


Ans: Yes, the uniform will be “Type C” (Plain White T-shirt, Maong pants and rubber
shoes). However, if your batch decides to have a printed uniform, you may do so
with the concurrence of the entire batch.

2. What is the proper haircut for male cadets?


Ans: The authorized haircut is plainly clean cut or the haircut being required or authorized
by the school thru the Office of the Student Affairs.

3. Are all the PAFROTC activities compulsory?


Ans: Yes, but excuses are considered on a case to case basis upon approval by the
Commandant.

4. What courses are offered in the PAFROTC?


Ans: The AFROTC offers two (2) courses, the Basic ROTC and the Advance ROTC.

5. Is there hazing in the PAFROTC?


Ans: There is no hazing in the PAFROTC. More so, hazing is punishable by law under
R.A. No. 8049, an act regulating hazing and other forms of initiation rites in
fraternities, sororities, and other organizations (e.g. AFP & PNP) and providing
penalties therefor.

6. What are the benefits given by the PAFROTC?


Ans: Scholarship grant to deserving Advance PAFROTC cadets.

7. Are there qualified instructors in the PAFROTC?


Ans: Yes, the PAFROTC has qualified and highly trained Military Training Instructors
and civilian professionals that are capable of conducting trainings and instructions.

B. TRAINING REGULATION

8. ATTENDANCE
 The submitted output required from each topic shall be the basis of the
attendance of each cadet.

 Non submission of 20% of the total number of required outputs will
automatically drop the student from the course.
9. GRADING
 Cadets/ cadettes shall be given a final grade for every semester, such grade to be
computed based on the following weights:
a. Attendance & Military Aptitude - - - - - - - - - - 60 points
b. Subject Proficiency - - - - - - - - - - 40 points

 Subject proficiency is forty percent (40%) apportioned to the different subjects of a


course depending on the relative importance of the subject and the number of hours
devoted to it. It is the sum of the weighted grades of all subjects.

The weighted grades of a subject are computed as follows:


SP = Raw Score / Total number of test item
= SP x 40%
= SP Final Points
