The learning styles proposed by different experts show both similarities and differences. VARK and Kolb's learning styles are similar in how they focus on external factors that influence the learning process, such as how knowledge is presented and how learners acquire information. However, VARK only focuses on sensory modes of absorbing information, while Kolb's model also includes reflection and decision-making after learning. Honey and Mumford and Sternberg's models are both similar in how they emphasize different individual approaches to processing information and experiences. The main differences are that Honey and Mumford developed their styles based on Kolb, while Sternberg focuses on analytical, creative and practical abilities. The 7 Learning Styles and VARK also have similarities in considering individual potentials

A.
1. Group yourselves into 2’s. Identify three learning styles (from the seven classifications
in this chapter). Name and discuss two class activities that illustrate or indicate the
particular learning style. (20 pts.)
 Visual learner
Visual learners are those who learn easily by the use of their visuals. These learners
preferred for the used of visual aids, for instance, diagrams, books, maps, images, charts
and any other visual processes. They could easily learn just by looking unto the visual
concepts and watching visual presentations.
Teachers can make use of things like charts, graphs and imagery to engage a visual
learner in the classroom. Try to provide appropriate photos to go along with the material
of the course if you have a projector. Maps are useful in geography and history, while
maps go with diagrams for math and logic.
Encourage the visual learners to draw out their thoughts, construct mind maps and
flowcharts when it comes to self-driven learning. It should probably eventually come to
them, but a bit of prompting can also still help.
Suggested activities for visual learners:
1. Photo essays. It will be an interesting task for the visual learners to do because they
easily create and learn something just by looking.
2. Demonstration. It would be easy for them to learn if the activities will be in line with
his/her learning styles. Letting them to demonstrate will help to share their thoughts on
the way that relates to their style of learning.
 Physical Learner
Physical learners are those who learn easily by using their sense of touch, they can
discover the world best when they were using their body and hands. This kind of
learner is a person who likes moving. It can be a nightmare to stay in one spot for too
long because they would most definitely rather do hands-on work. These students
work best when they are able to work through a problem by touching it physically. In
general, physical learners also notice different fabrics and textures more than other
individuals.
Suggested activities for learner:
1. Charades. This game would be interesting for physical learners to excite and
engage themselves to the activity.
2. Hands on Activities. This includes experiment for sciences, manual hands on
especially for ICT and MAPEH. It will help them to put their interest on a certain
activities so that they will learn.
 Solitary learner
Solitary learners are those who learn easily just by being alone, he/she doesn't need to be
with others to learn. Solitary learners can be visual, auditory, physical, verbal or logical
learners. Fulfilling all the needs of the solitary student will ensure they are fully engaged.
They are those someone who prefers learning on their own. These types of students are
self-motivated, enjoy working independently, and learn best when working alone.
Students who are solitary learners spend a lot of time in self-reflection and enjoy working
on themselves.
Suggested activities for learners:
1. Reflective Papers. It will let them to express themselves through this activity. It also
help for the teachers to check or assess how much they learn the lesson.
2. Different Essay Writing. On this activity, they could be able to share their thoughts on
the specific topic.
They might be at their just being with himself/herself but it was still important for the
instructor to engage them during class. Provide visual resources, learning aids and books.
Designate quiet areas and work with specified shared time so that the lonely learner can
feel prepared adequately.

2. Why is actual experience of students in the learning situation necessary to achieve the object
of improved learning? (20 pts.)
Engaging students to actual experience is necessary because it will let them to know the actual or
have a real experience in order for them to make use of that learning to improved and for them to
apply it. It helps the learners to develop their skills and that would be their asset in the future
workplace. It is crucial that schools integrate new learning techniques to help prepare children
for the future workplace. With both these methods, the child plays a relatively passive role in the
learning process.
Experiential learning is necessary because it engage students in hands-on experiences and
reflection, they are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to
real-world situations. It gives information that serves as a framework for reflection. From
reflection, from a real experience, we assimilate the data we obtained and create new ideas about
the environment in which we then actively or reflectively experiment. By applying experiential
learning, learners would improve their learning.

B. Following are learning styles proposed by different authors or learning style experts. To
name some, VARK, 7 learning Styles, Kolb’s Learning Styles, Honey and Mumford, and
Sternberg. Do you see similarities or differences among any of these? If yes, in what ways
are they similar? In what ways are they different? (30 pts.)
