ACTIVITY 3: DESCRIBE ME
DIRECTION: Based on the given picture, reflect and
derive the mood, idea, or message emanating from the
given picture of “BANIG.” Write your reflection in your
paper.
Process Questions:
1. How can you describe Banig?
2. What are the materials in creating Banig?
3. Banig is easy or not easy to make? Why?
Materials:
Magazine or other recycled paper
Scissors pencil
String or Pipe cleaner Glue
Tutorial:
Step 1: Collect your paper. We used an old
magazine and tore out bright colored pages. We
realized we had enough colors for a rainbow
pattern which excited my two artists.
Step 2: Cut your pages into long triangle strips.
You may find it helpful to draw the triangle lines
on the page for your beginner cutter to cut.
Step 3: Flip over triangle so the backside is
facing up. Starting with the big end of the
triangle, roll into the pencil. Younger artists may
need help with rolling the paper on the pencil.
Step 4: Glue. Place a dot of glue at the small end
of the triangle. The glue most likely will ooze
out…this is good! Use the extra glue to cover the bead. I used my finger to spread the extra glue over the rest of the roll.
This will help hold the paper in place. Slide the bead off the pencil and allow it to dry.
END OF FIRM-UP
You can now reflect to the mood or message of some craft in Visayas. I know you are well
prepared to the performance task. Good Luck and Enjoy!
