Cebuano Literature: Literature That's Staying Strong
The aspiring literature from Cebu, which demonstrated and showed capability with an
outstanding economic track record. It is a literature that is vast and have shown many themes regarding
reality for adults and children. For Cebuano literature has undeniably undergone marked changes over the
years, many Cebuano writers especially those that are young embraced less formal forms like free verse
and spoken poetry due to the changes yet still remain wonderful.
The Cebuano writers today not only are free to write how they want to but also what they want to
for there is an huge involvement of topics such as religion, sexuality and etc. Though it can be considered
that the pinnacle of the Cebuano literature was at the of 1900 to 1940 that has been referred to as the
Golden Age of Cebuano Letters and in the Pre-War period referred to as Golden Age of Vernacular
Literature. Even though Cebuano Literature now is not at its peak, it still gives Excellency by the aspiring

Its beauty can be shown for its abundance, expansion, refinement and promotion of Cebuano
language. Creating many poems that many can relate to, stories that amazes children, and stories for
adults that struck them reality. For it has a beauty, uniqueness, and amazing characteristics that cannot be
easily expressed.
Even though Cebuano is not that old compared to other literature like the literature in China and
Mesopotamia that started long-long ago, it still possesses uniqueness unlike any other due to many-many
experiences the Cebuano writers had in a short span of years even if it is only contained or from the small
