System Configuration Notes


 Since an iSCSI LAN handles large amounts of data (traffic volumes) like an FC-
SAN, the iSCSI LAN must have its own switch and be a dedicated LAN that is
separate from the business LANs.
 For IP network security, separate the iSCSI LAN from the management LAN (for
administration).
 The iSCSI LAN must be configured as a dedicated LAN for each path from a
server to the ETERNUS DX.

Windows 8 iSCSI Single Path Connection Procedure

 Introduction
This section explains the connection procedure for a Windows 8 iSCSI single path
connection.

The connection procedure is explained with references to the following

 How to Start the Windows 8 iSCSI Initiator


In Windows 8, the iSCSI initiator is installed by default.

 Starting the iSCSI Service

Start the iSCSI service.

For Windows 8, starting the iSCSI initiator starts the iSCSI service.

Procedure

1 Click the upper right part of the [Start] screen. Then in the Charms bar,
search for "iSCSI" using "Search".

2 In the search result, click "Set up iSCSI initiator".

3 Click the [Yes] button to start the iSCSI service.

 Setting Up the iSCSI Initiator Parameters

Use the iSCSI initiator to set the iSCSI initiator parameters.

For the configuration procedure, refer to "4.7 Setting Up the iSCSI Initiator Driver
Parameters" in "Server Connection Guide (Windows Settings)".

 Setting CHAP Authentication


* The CHAP authentication setting is optional.
