Create a Website Using Weebly

Task 1: Create a Website Essay

I chose to create my website using Weebly. To start out with, I chose the option of creating a
standard webpage (rather than one with a store). From here, I had the option to select a theme or a
blank canvas. I chose the portfolio category, browsed through the themes, and chose one that looked
appealing to me. From here, I was directed to the webpage editor, which is primarily drag and drop, so
it’s fairly user friendly. I clicked the title and renamed it. I also deleted five of the six photographs. I only
wanted one main photograph in the middle. I clicked the remaining photograph, clicked replace
photograph, and uploaded a photograph that supported my website theme of reading fluency. Next, I
inserted a link to a reading fluency website by clicking on a text box in the field to the left and dragged
and dropped it to where I wanted it on the page. I typed my text in the box, highlighted the portion I
wanted to make a link, clicked the link icon, and entered the URL into the web address field. I repeated
this process to input a link to send an email to me.

I knew I also had some fonts I wanted to change. To do this, I clicked the “Theme” button on the
menu up top. This allowed me to change the font details for each text type (Titles, paragraph titles,
paragraph texts, hyperlinks, etc.). I adjusted the webpage title font by selecting that particular text type
from the drop-down menu on the left. I did the same with paragraph titles and hyperlink colors. Each
particular text type has it’s on font, size, and color that goes along with the theme of the website.

Finally, I wanted to add a few more pages. So I clicked the “Pages” button on the menu along
the top. From here, I clicked the plus to add the pages I wanted, which were Graphic Instructional
Materials, Multimedia Instructional Materials, and Print Instructional Materials. Once I had each page
created, I went to each corresponding page and resized the gray title area to a thinner band by clicking it
and dragging a blue dot. In each title area, I put the title of the page. I put a spacer below the title
section and will being adding content as it is developed and/or acquired.
