LIFERIZ - MODULE 4 ACTIVITIES

D1: What I Know

1. I've read already Rizal's Noli Me Tangere.
2. The brief summary of this is how Crisostomo Ibarra fights for the inequalities that is
happening his country due to the management of the friars and the Spanish civil administration.
In here, Ibarra wanted to change the situation of his countrymen to become better but was faced
with adversities with the abusive government.
D2: Makamisa
What could be the impact of the Makamisa? How different is Rizal in Makamisa as compared to
his 2 other novels?
Since Makamisa was the first novel that Rizal attempted to write in Tagalog, I think that if he
finished the said novel, more Filipinos during his time would be able to read it. Having such
case, more Filipinos will be enlightened with the situation of the Philippines under the Spanish
government and will be more inspired to fight for the freedom of the country.
D3: Women of Malolos
What character of Rizal can you see in his letter? Is this still connected to his being a
propagandist?
In the letter that Rizal wrote to the women of Malolos, it can be seen that Rizal wanted women
to receive equal rights and opportunities that men has. He wanted women to be empowered
and educated and not only be confined in their homes to do what most of society expects them
to do.
D4: Impact of Annotation
In three (3) sentences, please illustrate the impact of Rizal's Annotation on Morga. Consider the
propaganda goals of Rizal in doing this reflection.
In Rizal’s annotation of Morga’s Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas he wanted to show that Filipinos
were civilized even before the colonization of the Spaniards. He wanted to correct the other
people’s view of the Philippines that has been falsified and slandered. Through his annotation,
the Filipinos became aware of their true identities and cultures.
D5: Rizal’s Correspondence
Do a little research. Look for a Rizal's correspondence. Read the letter and do this activity:
In 2-3 Sentences, determine the impact of Rizal's correspondence to his objectives. Please
indicate the receiver and the exact date of the letter if any.
In one of Rizal’s correspondence dated October 12, 1886 addressed to his brother Paciano, he
indicated there that he was having financial problems with the printing costs of his first novel
Noli Me Tangere and wished if his brother could send him some money. Rizal really wanted to
publish the book as he believed that it would make a great impact to the society and his
homeland, Philippines.
D6: What I Understand
Choose one (1) event in Rizal's life. Why did you choose that event? What do you think is the
significance of that event?
If I were to choose one event in Rizal’s life, it would be the time he published his first novel, Noli
Me Tangere. This book became revolutionary and created great impacts on the minds of the
Filipinos which ignited their spirit to fight for the country’s freedom and independence against
the Spanish colonialism.
