Third Conditional Class

The document discusses the third conditional in English grammar. The third conditional is used to think about past situations that did not occur and imagine what results they would have had. It provides examples of third conditional sentences and explains their structure using 'had' and 'would have' followed by the past participle verb. It also notes that other modal verbs like 'could' and 'might' can be used instead of 'would' in some cases.

Las condicionales en inglés son el recurso que usamos para hablar de cosas que dependen de
otras.

The third conditional se utiliza para pensar en situaciones del pasado que no ocurrieron e
imaginarnos qué resultados hubiesen tenido.

Example:

 If I had known, I would have worn something nicer.

 If I had seen him, I would have asked him to come over.

Structure
Hacemos el third conditional usando el “past perfect” después de “if” y luego “would have” y el
“past participle” en la segunda parte de la oración:

If + past perfect Comma(,) would + have + past participle verb +

complement
If you had come early , you would have had a better seat
If I had taken an , I would not have got wet
umbrella
A veces, en vez de “would” se utilizan otros verbos modales como “could” y “might”.

Example:

 If you had caught the bus, you could have been on time.
 If I had worked harder, I might have passed the exam.

También podemos revertir el orden y usar:

Would + have + past participle verb + complement + if + past perfect

NOTA: Nota cómo la coma no es necesaria en este orden de palabras.

Would + have + past participle verb + complement + if + past perfect

You would have had a better seat if you had come early
I would not have got wet if I had taken an umbrella

More examples:
 If you had lent me your car, I could have got there faster.
 If I had taken better care of myself, I wouldn't have got sick.
 If she had replied to my message, I wouldn't have been so worried
