Lab 1: Part 1 - Logging into and Configuring the Lab Environment

Step Action

1 Log into a Windows classroom computer.

The logon screen for your Windows client host is displayed.

Note: Your instructor will provide login instructions.

2 Open Microsoft Internet Explorer and go to the URL: https://vdc.emc.com

Log in to the Virtual Data Center with the user name and password provided to
you by the instructor.

3 At the next screen, click the vCloud link.

4 If you see this message, click Continue to this website.

EMC Education Services 6

Step Action

5 At the vCloud login screen, enter the same User name and Password assigned to
you by your instructor. Then, click Login.

6 You will be using the Avamar DD 7.1 Lab vApp for all the labs for this course. To
get your own personal copy of the vApp, clone the vApp to My Cloud.

From the home screen, click Add vApp from Catalog and

EMC Education Services 7

Step Action

7 Select the Avamar DD 7.1 Lab vApp and click Next.

8 Add your name to the beginning of the configuration name: “YOUR-NAME

Avamar DD 7.1 Lab.” Leave all other settings at default and click Next, then
Finish.

EMC Education Services 9

Step Action

13 The virtual Data Domain systems in this lab use a temporary license. To activate
this license, open the configure DataDomain script folder on the Desktop.
Double-click the configure_DD01.bat and configure_DD02.bat files to run these
scripts.

The scripts are successful if they each create scriptdone files:

Note: If the scripts fail, wait a few minutes for the Data Domains to complete
booting and try again.

EMC Education Services 10

Step Action

14 The lab environment is now ready to use. The Avamar DD 7.1 Lab vApp consists of
these 5 virtual machines:

 win - This is your primary Windows workstation for the labs. It also is a domain
controller and DNS for your configuration.
 single01 - This is your Avamar single-node server.
