NSTP Core Values
We, as Filipino people, have been savoring our freedom from being colonized by different countries.
After 123 years of getting the freedom that our heroes have unselfishly fought for, do we really know
what it means to our country and to us as Filipinos? Are we showing enough value and appreciation to
our freedom? Are we even proud of being a Filipino?
So come and let us discover the values of Filipinos. Lets proceed with unity
Unity:
"United we stand; divided we fall" is a saying that binds people or nation to be united as one, especially
in times of trials and aspiration. I will give you a glimpse of how Filipinos showcased the power of a
community working together during a difficult year. From leading relief initiatives following the Taal
Volcano eruption to storming the streets to protest the anti-terror law, Filipinos showed how their
bayanihan spirit remains intact even as they faced their own personal challenges. A Filipino trait defined
as working together towards a shared cause, the bayanihan spirit was on full display in the country in
2020, when it was needed most. As the pandemic forced people to stay at home, many turned to social
media to find ways to help, crowdsource information, hold government accountable, and mobilize
online communities to take action. Others staged campaigns nationwide to make their voices heard and
also to aid fellow Filipinos. Second is Equality
Equality: Equality is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of
their lives and talents. It is also the belief that no one should have poorer life chances because of the
way they were born, where they come from, what they believe, or whether they have a disability.
Equality recognizes that historically certain groups of people with protected characteristics such as race,
disability, sex and sexual orientation have experienced discrimination.
When we respect the law, we also respect the government that leads to patriotism and love of country.
Laws protect our general safety and ensure our rights as citizens against abuses by other people, by
organizations, and by the government itself. I believe that the laws and the government are meant to
serve our interests as a citizen. We should seek ways to understand the laws more so that we will be
able to follow them more knowingly. I should also strive to understand the government and its functions
so thta I can contribute to its efforts of iproving the lives of the people. As a citizen, I should always
maintain a sense of respect for her duly constituted right and authority to promote order and peace for
the sake of all the people.
Patriotism is every person's sense of duty and responsibility to contribute to the development of our
country, protecting our integrity, and upholding the rights and dignity of our people. We understand
that Filipinos love to travel especially during the summer. With all the discounted fares being offered by
different airlines, traveling now has been very accessible. Unfortunately, Filipinos prefer exploring our
neighboring countries instead of visiting and experiencing the beautiful islands our country is famous
for. A lot of foreigners have been going back to some of our tourist destinations which ironically, some
of our countrymen hasn’t even gone to. Let’s patronize our own country including our very own
products. These help in the livelihood of the Filipinos put food in their homes and bring their children to
school. Besides, this is the land that our brave heroes have fought for to show some love! We, as
Filipinos are proud of our cultural heritage which was handed down from generation to generation. Not
only us, but foreigners who visit our country appreciates our culture and tradition, enough reason be
proud of being a Filipino because no matter how many countries have colonized ours, our own culture is
still treasured and taken care of.
Common good:
The common good is about how we live together in community. It’s about the ethical ideals we strive
together, the benefits and burdens we share, the sacrifices we make for one another. It’s about the
lessons we learn from one another about how to live a good and decent life. An example of this is the
ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has forced people around the world to change how they live and
interact with other people. Healthcare providers advocate that we all continue to practice social
distancing in order to prevent spikes in case numbers that can overwhelm healthcare systems. Mask
mandates, travel restrictions, and changes to the ways we work and go to school continue to impact
most cities and towns. Following these public health guidelines is crucial not only to protect our
individual health but also to minimize the harm that COVID-19 inflicts on our society as a whole. These
changes are designed to protect each of us, but they are also designed to promote the common good.
