ACTIVITY & ANALYSIS
1. What do you think are the advances in technologies?
Over the years, technology has revolutionized our world and daily lives.
Technology has created amazing tools and resources, putting useful information at our
fingertips.
Technology influences human existence by bringing new risks as well as
improvements to our lives. Today, people are living longer and healthier lives thanks, in
large part, to technological advances in the field of medicine.
Another advances in technology that we can all relate is Cell phone. We cannot
really deny the fact that it really help us and make our life easier especially in
communication. Just a matter of seconds, we can contact or send a message to
someone who are far away from us even he/she is half way across the country or even
the world. This means, less waiting time means better production and progression.
Through cell phone, you can also video call someone if you want to see them. There are
a lot of social media platforms available such as facebook, messenger, instagram,
skype, etc., which you can use to communicate someone. Cell phone is also very useful
when in times of emergencies since you are able to contact anyone at anytime and
anywhere.
Computer is also one of the biggest advancement of technology since it is the
most versatile machine as far as learning, communicating, and such. Anything is
possible with the Internet. If something doesn’t make sense, you can look it up. There
are a lot of informations you can find especially on Google, although it is not always
accurate but if you can determine the facts from fiction it is the most useful learning tool.

One of the major advancement in technology is no another than, the electricity.

Would any new advancements have been possible without the breakthrough of
electricity? Obviously not. All the things that I mentioned above will be nothing if there is
no electricity because it is the one who give energy to operate all of them. That’s why, it
is the major advancement and most important technology invention since it really help us
in so many ways.

Thus, I can say that, there are really a lot of advances of technology however, the
things that I mentioned above is for me, the one that really brought a big impact to every
one of us. That’s why we must use all of this properly, and not abused what it can do for
us because we don’t know that maybe it will be the one who will wreck as in the end if
we overused it.

2. How these technologies affect our lives especially in education?

Technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn, and think. It helps
society and determines how people interact with each other on a daily basis. It is how we
form opinions, communicate with others, even explore new ideas and made our
lives easier, faster, better, and more fun. One aspect of technology that has had a great
impact on society is how it affects learning.
Technology has revolutionized the field of education. The importance of
technology in schools cannot be ignored. In fact, with the onset of computers in
education, it has become easier for teachers to impart knowledge and for students to
acquire it.

Technology use allows many more students to be actively thinking about

information, making choices, and executing skills than is typical in teacher-led lessons.
Moreover, when technology is used as a tool to support students in performing authentic
tasks, the students are in the position of defining their goals, making design decisions,
and evaluating their progress.

In addition, it allows students to get work done easier. Students can take quizzes
and exams more easily, and teachers being able to hold online classes can be very
effective especially in a midst of pandemic where we are not allowed to have face-to-
face classes to stop the spreading of Coronavirus 2019. It also expands the boundaries
of the classroom, encouraging self-paced learning. People can access learning through
YouTube and social media. This helps students learn better than sitting down for
lectures and reading from textbooks. These technological advancements made learning
more fun and convenient.

1. How does ICT affects the teaching-learning process?

The impact of ICT for teaching and learning process has become pertinent as it
facilitates teaching and learning process, create conducive learning environment, and help
learners develop creative thinking and self- confidence. The use of information and
communication technology in schools is taken very seriously by governments and educational
systems around the world as it provides access to a variety of information sources, forms and
types; help in the preparation of reports and the organization of events; helps to put down the
barriers between information held on several systems, thus creating a borderless
communication and information environment by allowing users to access different database,
thus having access to millions of information at their fingertips.

2. What are the different components of electronic tools? Give 3 examples for each component.

- Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility
- Engage in professional growth and leadership
4. What is your idea of a 21st century classroom?

Technology affects virtually every aspect of our lives at this point, which is why it is so
important to make sure it is included in school from an early age. A 21st century classroom
should incorporates modern technology into lessons, and teachers are fully prepared and
equipped with knowledge and skills to teach students enhance their learning and prepare
them for a future in our tech-driven world.
The focus of the 21st Century classroom is on students and teachers are no longer
the center of attention as the dispenser of information. Instead teachers will play the role as a
facilitator, setting project goals and providing guidelines and resources, moving from student
to student or group to group, providing suggestions and support for student activity. As
students work on their technology-supported products, the teacher rotates through the room,
looking over shoulders, asking about the reasons for various design choices, and suggesting
resources that might be used. Collaborative project-based curriculum are being used in this
classroom to develop student’s high or higher order thinking skills, effective communication
skills, and knowledge of technology that will help students in building their chosen careers

7. What are the roles of technology for teaching and learning, teachers and teaching and
learners and learning?

ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING

1. Technology as a tutor. Together with the teacher, technology can support the teacher to
teach another person or technology when programmed by the teacher can be a tutor on its own.
2. Technology as a teaching tool. Like a tutor, technology is a teaching tool, but can never
replace a teacher. This is like a handy man which is just a there to be reached.
3. Technology as a learning tool. While the teachers utilizes technology as the tool for teaching.
Likewise it is an effective tool for learning.

ROLES OF TECHNOLOGY FOR TEACHERS AND TEACHING

6. Technology supports teacher profession development.
ROLES OF TECHNOLOGY FOR LEARNERS AND LEARNING
1. Support learners on how to learn on their own.
A. Declarative knowledge consist of the discrete pieces of information that answers the
question what, who, when and where.
B. Structural knowledge consists of facts of pieces of declarative knowledge put together to
attain some form of meaning.
C. Procedural knowledge is knowledge in action or the knowledge of how to do something.
It is based on facts but learned through the process of procedural knowledge.
2. Technology enhances learners’ communication skill through social interactions.
A. Point to point two-way or one-to-one like internet chat, phone conversation or even face-
to-face conversation.
B. One-to-many outbound like a lecture, or television. There is no social interaction.
C. Many-to-many like group discussion, buzz session. Heads together. This kind of
interaction provides opportunities for social interaction.
D. Social interaction through communication occurs:
• Through technology- directly between two persons via email, a cell phone or other
communication technology.
• Around technology- like students discussing a problem posed by a software program.
• Support of technology- like teachers and students interacting about the worksheet
printed from a website.
3. Technology upgrades learners' higher-order-thinking skills: critical thinking, problem solving
and creativity

1. Who are the digital learners

The digital learners are the 21st century students.

2. Who are digital natives and digital immigrants?

As proclaimed by Prensky, people who were not born in the digital era and later
adopted the new technology are named as “digital immigrants” whereas people who were
born during or after the digital era are dubbed “digital natives”.

3. Please give your reflection about the youtube videos of Joe Ruhl the TEACHING
METHODS FOR INSPIRING THE STUDENTS OF THE FUTURE. Attached is the link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCFg9bcW7Bk

After I watched the video of Joe Ruhl entitled “The Teaching Methods for Inspiring the
students of the Future”. In the video, Joe Rhul shared his experiences that made him
successful by teaching and inspiring students for more than 37 years in his life which taught
him 2 things─ Research based techniques and Relationship. He talked about first the
techniques where he discussed the teacher-center classroom and what it was all about. This
is really relatable since I have also experienced that kind of situations in a classroom he
talked about. I am feeling nostalgic remembering those days especially during my
elementary grades. He also mentioned there where he converted his classroom using the
5C’s (Choice, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity) to make his
students a big part of the classroom. For me, this is the best idea to make student’s learning
effective, inspired and fun because students are given the chance to explore and discover
things by themselves since they will meet many diverse learning styles. It is better if we shift
from teacher-centered to student-centered. That makes teachers as a facilitator and guide
instead of being as a center or in front of the classroom.
I am really amazed how he showed what his classroom looks like. It is not just an
ordinary classroom, you can see his students doing different activities based upon their
choices and that is really awesome because it is not only they are learning but enjoying and
loving what they do as well. I hope that other schools will apply this kind of method of
teaching while applying the 2 loves- First, teachers love for the subject and passion for the
subject. Secondly, the teacher’s genuine love for the kids because relationship between the
teachers and students is also very important in a classroom. We must not also forget the
most effective, most powerful, most inspiring way of teaching─ the 6th C, Caring. As a
teacher it is your responsibility as a second parent of your student to get their attention,
motivating them, and inspiring them in order to help them grow and becoming a better
version of themselves.
I really have a lot of realizations after I watched this video and that makes me more
motivated to become a future educator in the future. Even though, being a teacher is a noble
profession, but looking your students becoming successful in life because you are one of the
reasons or stepping stone why he/she got there is what makes it worth it and that’s what
matters the most for me.
