Good Morning Class!! Good morning Sir.
Today we will discuss about the electrical tools Yes Sir.
and equipment to be used in a specific job.
I want to know how far your knowledge about
Electrical tools is, So get 1 whole sheet of paper.
Now, Enumerate all the electrical tools and Yes sir!
equipment that you may know as long as you
can. For just 10 minutes.
Time is up, finished or not finish pass your paper. The students are passing the papers.
Class who has an idea of what is the importance The importance of using a specific tool or
of using a specific tool for a job? Anyone? equipment for a job is for safety sir!!
Okay thank you for the idea. We will now start
our discussion.

B. LESSON/ACTIVITY PROPER

Teachers Activity Students Activity

DISCUSSION
Again our topic for today is all about Electrical Okay Sir!!
tools and Equipment.
“Electrical task can be accomplished
systematically, to save time, effort, and
resources, most of the work cannot be done
using bare hands. To do the task, electrical tools
or equipment are needed to perform the job.
We will discuss the functions/use of each tool
and equipment used in electrical.
First Screw drivers, So what are screw drivers? Sir? Flat screw and star screw sir!
“These tools are made of steel hardened and
tempered at the tip used to loosen or tighten
screws with slotted heads” They come in various
sizes and shape so any idea from the class?
Okay thank you for answering. There are lot of
screw drivers.
So first, the Standard/Flat screw driver.
“The blade tip is wedge-shaped and resembles a
negative sign. This used to drive screws with a
single slot head.
Second one is Philip Screw driver this has a cross
tip resembling a positive sign. This is used to
drive screws with cross slot heads.
The third one is Stubby Screw driver it comes
either standard or Philip screw driver with short
shank or blade and a shorted handle used to turn
screws in tight space where standard screw
driver cannot be used. The last one is Allen
Screw driver/Wrench. This could be in the shape
of a screw driver or a wrench. Its function is to
drive screw with hexagonal slot head.
Okay did you understand? Did you get me? Yes sir!
Now are hammers. Electricians are also using I sir! A tool that has a heavy metal head attached
hammer. Who can give me the definition of to handle and that is used to for hitting a surface
hammer? to make a loud noise.
Thank you for your answer.
Hammers are tools used in driving or pounding There are three sir, that can be used in electrical
and pulling tools out nails. They are made of Claw hammer, mallet and Ballpeen hammer.
hard steel, wood, plastic or rubber. Who can give
me the types of hammer?
Okay thank you. Amazing your answer is correct!

So Claw hammer is a one side of the head split

and curved, used for extracting nails.
Second one is mallet is usually used in carpentry
to knock wooden pieces together or to drive
dowels or chisels.
Third one is ballpeen hammer also known as
machinist hammer. Is a type of peening hammer
used in metalworking. It has two heads, one is
flat and other called the peen rounded.
And now another tool used in installation of Sir, it’s my opinion about plier. It is an electrical
electrical wiring is what we called Plier? tool used for splicing wire and joint.
Who can give any idea about plier?
Thank you for your idea. Yes Sir

What is Plier? So according to your classmate’s

knowledge for him it is used for splicing of wire,
yes he is correct. Now to define it clearly these
made from metal with insulators in the handle
and are used for cutting, twisting, bending,
holding, and gripping wires and cables.

So class is it clear?
There are types of Pliers Yes sir.
a. Combination pliers – this is used for
gripping, holding and cutting electrical
wires and cables and even small nails.
They are used by linemen in doing heavy
task.
b. Side Cutting Pliers – this type of plier is
used for cutting fine, medium and big
wires and cables.
c. Long nose Pliers – This is used for cutting
and holding fine wires. This can reach
tight space or small opening where other
pliers cannot reach and also used in
making terminal loops of copper wires.
So those are the types of pliers. Do you follow?
Let’s proceed, aside from using side cut plier or
combination plier in skinning the wire, there is a
specific tool for removing insulation it is called
wire stripper.
Wire stripper – a tool used for removing
insulation of medium sized wires ranging from
gauge # 10 to #16.
Wire stripper has limitation in stripping wires. It
is not applicable on those wires that have bigger
sizes. This tool is used by the linemen to remove
insulation of wire and cables in low and high
voltage transmission line. It’s called Electrician’s
Knife.
Second to the last tool that I will introduce to
you is the Portable Electric drill – it’s a small
drilling machine with a chuck capacity of ¼ “ to
3/8”. It is used in making holes on metal sheets
and concrete walls.
Last one is hacksaw. This tool is used to cut
metal conduit and armored cable.

And we are done with our topic today.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Now I want you to group yourselves into 3. Students are counting
Count off 1-3 starting from this row.
And now please get along with your group
mates. I want you to choose 5 electrical tools
that are much important for you to be used in
house wiring installation for you as electrician.
And draw it in manila paper and present it to
the class. I will give you 15 minutes to discuss
with your group. Time starts now.
The first to present their output is group
number 2, followed by group number 3 and last
to present is group number.
Time is up! Now group number 2, present your
output!
Group number 2 presentation
Next is group number 3. Group number 3 presentation
Next the last to present, group 1. Group number 1 presentation
I am amazed with your presentation each group.
And I hope you now understand what are the
Specific tools and equipment to be used in
electrical.
Thank you so much for your time and
cooperation.
