You will interview teachers at different levels. This will give you an opportunity to identify the various
functions of a teacher as curriculum specialist.
Be guided by the following:
1. Accomplish the Teacher as Curricularist Matrix during the interview.
2. Search on the Roles of the Teacher as a Curricularist and fill out the template below.
3. Create a concept map on the roles of the teacher as curricularist.
4. For purposes of reliability, electronic outputs should be encoded using Century Gothic font size 12.
Handwritten outputs should be rendered in print not in script.
Learning Essentials:
A curricularist is a professional who is a curriculum specialist. The following are functions of a
curriculum specialist:
● Plans the curriculum – a teacher’s role is to make a yearly, monthly, or daily plan of curriculum which
serves as a guide in the implementation of curriculum.
● Writes the curriculum – a teacher takes all the records of knowledge or concept.
● Knows the curriculum – a teacher has the mastery of the area included in the curriculum.
● Initiates the curriculum – a teacher’s belief that the implementation of the new curriculum will enhance
the learning.
● Innovates the curriculum – a teacher makes innovations in the curriculum. Creativity and innovation are
hallmarks of an excellent teacher.
● Implements the curriculum – an implementer gives life to the curriculum plan. It is where the teaching,
guiding, facilitating skills of the teacher are expected at the highest level.
● Evaluates the curriculum – the teachers determine if the desired learning outcomes have been achieved.
