E XAMPLE 2. BITS OPERATION. Some parameters contain a lot of information in one word, i.e. each bit of the word
represents different information. In some applications only one or two bits could be interesting, for which reason
bits operations are available in this application. The output of this example shows only when bit 4 is enabled in the
‘Noise_Status’ parameters. This bit defines whether a system calibration is made.
E XAMPLE 3. CONDITIONS . Sometimes the applications require evaluating conditions. For this purpose, ‘conditions’
option is available. This example shows an alias that only displays information when ‘Temperature’ complies with
some rules.

Compass Card graph is ideal to represent vector magnitudes, such as the wind. In each petal you can see how long
the wind has been blowing in that direction. The total bar (total time) of each petal is divided in ‘sections’ or
‘ranges’ according to the speed: Each section represents the length of time that the wind has been blowing at a
specific speed, between a maximum and a minimum (defined by means of ‘list of ranges’). User must indicate:
Compass petals (8 or 16), Direction (It is used to determine the angle of each vector), Speed (It is used to define
vector size) and List of ranges (You will be able to add, delete and change the colour of each range).
Once a customized graph has been created, it will be directly accessed from the ‘Reads/Statistics’- ‘Multiv.
Evolution’. See sections .2.1.1 and .2.1.2.

11. MONITOR
The monitor module consists of a window used for real-time monitoring of the station data. This may be added to
certain controls (numeric value, level bar, temporary graphics, vector graphics) with their respective configurations
such as workstations or series to be displayed.
From ‘New’ and ‘Open File’ buttons, the application allows to create as many monitoring environments as the user
decides. They will be located in different tabs in the main window.
The ‘Save’ and ‘Save as’ buttons allow to save the changes carried out in the monitoring environment. The ‘Save’
option will open a dialog box to specify the destination file if not specified and ‘Save as’ option will directly open a
dialog box to specify a destination.
The application allows to configure the alarms generation over each monitoring environment because of lack of
data, exceeded thresholds, etc. The ‘Sending Alarms’ button allows to configure alarm addresses, the type of alarm
sent (SMS, e-mail) and the sending parameters (smtp address, SIM features, etc.).

Another function associated to the monitoring module is displaying data in real time. In older versions, the
application only had access to a database where instant data were not stored in real time. In this version and using
5
the ‘Teletrans configuration’ option, the user can enter a URL of a Web Service created to communicate in real
time with the stations. The string chain entered here usually is the same as the URL configured in Teletrans.
5
This option will only work in applications or projects where Teletrans-W4K is installed.

Control Elements.
Customizable objects whose purpose is to contribute to design and customize each monitoring
environment. There are several types of control elements: panels, group boxes, text boxes, images, VMOs
(Variable Monitor Objects). The VMOs are ‘gauges’ whose function is to represent the values taken by
some parameters in a very visual way with level bars, wind rose, graphs, etc.
Process Elements.
Once the desired controls to begin with the monitoring are added, it will be necessary to press ‘Play’,
which is located in the toolbox called ‘Process’. To stop the process, press ‘Stop’. There is also an icon
called ‘automatic’ used to begin monitoring automatically when you open a file (.atx).
Alarms.
If VMO control generates an alarm, this will be seen in the bottom of the control and at the same time, if
you have some control with alarm, it is displayed in the bottom of the workspace. To disable the alarm,
press ‘Stop’, which is located in the toolbar called ‘Alarms’.
- Edition Elements.
The application includes the following editing options to manage the control elements. The following
ilustration also displays the keyboard shortcut.

11.1.1. TEMPLATES
Datagraph-W4K installation includes some monitoring environment templates. Depending on the operating
system, these templates are saved in a different directory:
There are templates in different languages (Spanish and English). Geonica strongly recommends using the
template designed for the application language.
The button enables to access the window where the alarms addresses, the type of alarms (SMS, e-mail) and
sending parameters can be configured.
Firstly, the user should configure the recipients of alarms entering some data: name, mailing address, phone
number, etc.
Then, the user may enable whether the configured recipients are active or not to receive alarms via e-mail or SMS.
The second tab is used to select the type of alarm, the stations and the recipients that will generate a notification
when an alert appears at the monitoring process. User must add as many elements to the list as recipient-station
combinations are intended to generate alarms. Then, in the list, the user will indicate by marking ‘check boxes’ the
type of communications for each alarm.
In the following example, recipient ‘Example1’ will receive alerts generated at station 1693 via SMS and E-mail and
recipient ‘Example2’ will receive alerts generated at station 2100 and 3050 via SMS and E-mail.

- COM: Port where the modem is connected to the PC where Datagraph-W4K is running.
- PIN: PIN code of SIM card associated to the modem.
- Message Center: Phone number of message center associated to SIM card. By default, this
information is usually included on the SIM card, so in this case user doesn’t need to complete this
field.
In order to send e-mails, user must configure the SMTP account which will take care of sending these alerts by
entering data in the following fields:
- Server: mail server. Example: smtp.geonica.com, smtp.google.com, smtp.live.com, etc.
- Port: port used by mail server to send and receive e-mails.
- Credentials: user and password of e-mail account that will send alarm e-mails.
WARNING! Sometimes the firewall or the antivirus can block the sending or receiving e-mails notifications. If
d ecei e he a a e-mails and the account is configured properly, turn off the antivirus and firewall
and try again.
The button enables the access to Web Service, which allows directly accessing the stations. The following
procedure shows the steps to configure the Web Service. Once configured, Datagraph-W4K will have access to real
time data directly from the stations.
WARNING! This functionality will only be available in projects where Teletrans-W4K is used. In projects where
Teletrans-W3K application is used, the monitoring only will access to values stored in the database.

All the VMOs offer the ability to configure the data load with the following options:
a. Data
b. Properties
c. Graphical Component
It is the most important section, since it will need to set data for data loading. The available setup options are:
Station: station name and number whose data is going to be monitored.
Parameter/Function: Parameter/function group whose data is going to be monitored. The list parameters
without associated function are instant data whose values are taken in real time using the Teletrans URL
previously configured.
