COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course deals with the study of mechanisms disregarding the forces and energies that causes the motion. It provides emphasis on the analytical and graphical
study of displacement, velocity and acceleration. This also includes the study of the elements of mechanisms such as gears, train, rolling bodies, belt and pulleys, cams and
followers.

PRE-REQUISITE(S)
CEDYNA20 – Dynamics of Rigid Bodies

3. Apply fundamental principles of Physics and Mathematics in the field of mechanical movement. E E
4. Apply the concepts learned in the design of the different machine elements. E E
5. Construct the displacement, velocity and acceleration diagrams of followers on different types of
motion and create cam profile graphically, and analytically.

6. Design and assemble machine elements to produce desired motion. E

2 hours and 40 minutes lecture every week

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1. The students will submit the students portfolio before the end of the semester.

CLASS POLICIES
1. Attendance: Students can be marked as DROP in a class with absences 20% of the total meeting days.
2. Cheating: Any form of cheating is not tolerated. Students caught cheating an exam is automatically failed in that exam.
3. Quizzes: Quizzes are always closed notes and can be given after discussion of assessments.
4. Plates: Plates are given after the discussion.

Periodic Assessment
A. Class Standing (CS) 60 %
Quizzes 50 %
Plates 25%
Assignment 25%

B. Major Exam (ME) 40 %

Periodic Grade (PG) = 60% CS + 40% ME
Final Grade = 50% Midterm PG + 50% Final PG
