Task Sheet #8
You will observe one (2) different classes. This will give you an opportunity to be acquainted
with methods of teaching.
Be guided by the following:
1. Observe how the Resource Teacher began, developed and ended his/her lesson.
During the observation, accomplish the observation sheet for greater focus.
2. Analyze the observation sheet by answering the given question.
3. Create a graphic organizer that will show examples of deductive and inductive
methods.
4. For purposes of reliability, electronic outputs should be encoded using Century Gothic
font size 12. Handwritten outputs should be rendered in print not in script.

Analysis:

1. Did the Teacher use the deductive or inductive method? Prove your answer

Based on my observation Ma’am Caranto used deductive method by showing her

lesson by presenting it on the screen using power point presentation, also she used
inductive method by giving an example since the subject is about “tour management
for visitors” it easy for the student to understand the instruction. Ms. Caranto gave an
example by letting her students to read and share their insight about what they’ve read,
then after that Ms. Caranto gave the correct explanation about the lesson presented
and read by her students so that they can understand it easily.

2. In which teaching method were students more involved in the teaching-learning

process?

In my observation most of the students involved in inductive teaching method Because

Ms. Caranto allows her students to read and explain the lesson that is presented on the
screen, and then she asks some questions based on their responses. Ms.Caranto also
allowed the students to dramatize a situation based on their experience managing
visitors because it was related to a subject. In this case it trains the minds of the students
and gives self confidence and be likely to participate more actively. (Learning is an
active Process)

3. Which method had greater demand from the teacher in terms of questioning and
organizing? Why?

Ms. Caranto had a higher demand for the deductive method in terms of questioning
and organizing because it is a method of instruction and the flow of the lesson is
organized.

4. Was there an instance when the teacher taught the lesson deductively-inductively when
it could have been better if she taught it inductively-deductively? Explain your answer.

According to my observations, as long as the students participate fully and have

confidence in the class, these two methods are good or possible, as long as the students
want to learn from the teacher.

Observation Sheet 1

Resource Teacher: MS.CRISTINA CARANTO School: UNIBERSIDAD DE MANILA

Subject Area: TOURISM Grade/Level: GRADE 11

Start of the lesson

The resource teacher began the lesson by delivering a brief review/recall of the previous
lesson, and then she asked a student to share their thoughts or what they
remembered/learned from the previous lesson (Cognitive Approach) . The resource
teacher began by discussing the goal that they must reach by the end of the day, and
then she gave a brief introduction about the topic “tour management for visitors” before
she proceed to her formal discussion.

Development of her lesson

For me, the development of the lesson occurred when the Resource teacher used a
cognitive approach with her pupils by providing a platform for them to read about the
topics that were shown on the screen, and then the students contributed their own
interpretations of what they had read. This would be considered development because the
learner would be more engaged in class. Finally, the resource teacher related the current
topic to what the pupils are likely encounter in their everyday life.

Ending of her lesson

The resource instructor did not complete the lesson fully, but she instructed the students to
look up the topic's continuation in their modules. After that, she instructs her students to do
their activities in their modules, and finally, the resource teacher takes notes on who
attended her lecture that day.
