Task 1 - Network Switch Installation #1: Information Is Captured and Make A Small Comment of What The Screenshot Is About

This document outlines the tasks and requirements for two assignments on installing and configuring local area network switches. For each task, students are instructed to build a network topology in Cisco Packet Tracer with routers, switches, a server, and workstations. They must configure the routers and switches through their command line interfaces, including setting static IP addresses, network speeds and duplex settings, SNMP protocols, and monitoring traffic with SPAN. Students are asked to provide documentation of their work including the network diagram, device configurations, and sign-off.

ICTTEN525 – Install, Configure & Test Local Area Network Switches

Task 1 – Network Switch Installation #1

Guidelines:
Using Cisco Packet Tracer, create a network with the following specifications:
- 2 Routers (1841)
- 2 Switches (2960)
- 1 Server (Web Server)
- 10 Workstations

All routers and switches configuration needs to be done using CLI (Command Line Interface).

- SPAN (Switched Port Analyser): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC1PCpcw0j0

Deliverables
Your document must include:
A. Introduction
a. Description of what you will do during this task (1 paragraph)
b. Description of the test you are going to conduct during this task (1 paragraph)
B. General Documentation
a. Network Topology
b. IP Addresses

Device Name IP Address Subnet Mask Speed Duplex

<10 / 100 Mbps> <half / full>
c. Naming Standards (remember that the name of your devices must match the name in
the topology)
C. Implementation
a. Screenshot of your configuration, crop your screenshot making sure all the relevant
information is captured and make a small comment of what the screenshot is about
(You must take screen shot of the configuration process. The #showrun command can
be used in the testing phase)
b. First, set up all the basic configuration settings (IP Address, Device Name, Routing
Protocol, etc.)
c. Second, test all the basic configuration works and that you have proper connectivity in
your network
d. Third, implement:
i. Static IP address to the switches
ICTTEN525 – Install, Configure & Test Local Area Network Switches

ii. Configure speed and duplex of the switch (For each of the connected port,
duplex: full, speed: 10 Mbps for workstations and 100 Mbps for server and
routers)
iii. Configure SNMP Protocol on the routers and switches (check the uptime,
change the name and location of each devices)
iv. Monitor the traffic coming the server using SPAN (Switched Port Analyser)
D. Sign Off
