B.11 (a) In Civil Engineering Mathematics, Lagrange Interpolation may

(ii) Along with the development of Mathematics, Trapezoidal
Rule was going to be replaced by Simpson’s Rule. The
formula to find the value of function is in below.

(b) In 1669, Newton’s Method (Former name of Newton-Raphson


Method) had been issued by Issac Newton, this method can find
the exact root of the equation. By using the method, find the
exact root of 𝑓(𝑥) = 0 and it will iterate three times. (4 marks)

B.12 A block of mass 1 kg is attached to a spring with force constant


6.25 N/m. It is pulled 0.3 m from its equilibrium position and released
from rest. If this spring-block apparatus is submerged in a viscous
fluid medium which exerts a damping force of – 4 v (where v is the
instantaneous velocity of the block), sketch the curve that describes
the position of the block as a function of time. (15 marks)

y – axis and ; (6 marks)

(c) the moment of inertia, Ixx and Iyy of the plate. (6 marks)
