MODULE 9 ACTIVITY
MOVIE REVIEW

Instructions: In class, watch Steven Spielberg’s science fiction drama film, A.I: Artificial
Intelligence (2001). After watching the film, reflection the story of David, a childlike android
uniquely programmed with the ability to love, and write a 200-300 word essay on the topic, *Why
does the future need us?" Cite particular scenes and insights from the movie to support your
arguments.

Answer:
WHY DOES THE FUTURE NEED US?
A.I.: Artificial Intelligence is a science fiction film that explores the subject of higher-level
thinking robots. It follows David, an android robot who wishes to become a human boy in order
to reclaim his mother's love. As I further watched the movie, I began to realize something.
The urge to be authentic and the need to be loved were the two enlightenments that struck
me the most after viewing the video. David was designed and programmed with the intention of
making someone feel cherished. Perhaps because I believe this, we are aware that we, too, are in
need of love.
Moreover, it demonstrates how volatile the weather was at the time. Professor Hobby
recommends developing a human mechanical or robotic child who will adore their parents for the
rest of their lives. They are useful, but they may also be terrifying since what happens in the movie
might happen in real life. The Earth was made for people and other living things. And robots are
just one example of human intelligence's output. In particular, the earth will not have a future if
human life does not exist.
I had a lot of questions in my head as I continued to watch the movie, and then I recalled
the question "Why does the future need us?" I understand the worry that artificial intelligence may
one day produce robot rulers that would wipe humans out, but I believe humanity will handle this
on its own. Because of our past, the future necessitates us. The qualities we connect with
technology and humanity are purposely mixed in Spielberg's presentation of technology. Any skill
that draws it closer to undesirable human inclinations should be taken away from it. To truly
comprehend what may happen in the future and acknowledge the advantages Artificial Intelligence
may bring to the world, we must be open to the wonders of AI.
