Creating A Website
Creating A Website
After I chose my design, I gave the website a title for the website
which appears at the top of the screen as you navigate the website. Next I
created 5 different tabs so the website could be easier navigated. To do this
you click at the top of the screen when editing your site where it says
“Pages” and you can create the tabs you want and name them. The tabs
were: Home, Print Resources, Graphic Resources, Multimedia Resources
and Task 1 Document. You have the option to change the layout of the tabs
and change the font. I decided to keep my tabs and fonts the same
because I personally prefer to keep things simple and easy for any
potential viewers. I then made the background darker because I prefer dark
colors that are easier on the eyes.
My next step was to find a picture for the home screen that was
connected to the content. I chose a swimming pool since I teach swim
lessons. Under the image I added a text box, to do this use the menu on
the left and find where it says “text box” and simply drag it to where you
would like to place your text box. In the text box I added an introduction that
explained the purpose of the website. Underneath the introduction I added
another text box and embedded a link to an external web source. To do this
I typed what I wanted it to say, so I typed Red Cross. Then I highlighted
what I typed and hit “Control+K” a drop down menu appeared and I copy
and pasted the websites URL into the box. Now when the website is
published viewers can go straight to that resource.
I have used a few different website tools as a student, a teacher and
as a student teacher. I believe Weebly is one of the easiest to use and
does not require a subscription. This is ideal for students and teachers who
do not have funds. For those to do, the upgrade allows the addition of HD
Video and audio and much more. I intend to use Weebly in the future to
benefit my instruction and the learning experience for my students.
