Chapter Eight: Serendipitous.

Note: Sorry, this chapter is boring  in the

middle, actually. But I have added an interesting
POV in this chapter. Read and find out. Don’t

Recap: Renesmee’s POV
“No, no!” I shouted when the man was just near the car and let his pale, white hands
through the broken window.

Chapter eight

Jacob’s POV
(Minutes before the accident)

I came out of the shower and put on my clothes. I didn’t hear

the T.V. going on. I panicked and went to the hall and Nessie
was not there!

I tried to calm down myself. I went upstairs to see if she was

in my room. I did not find her there too! Where was she?

That was when I found a crushed paper on my table. I smelt

Nessie’s scent over her, so I made my way to the crushed
paper and read it:

Dear Bella,

I know that you love Edward. But please understand that I’m
still loving you deeply. I want you Bella- I need you. Every
time I close my eyes, I see you. Every time, when you are
not with me, I think of you. I never wanted to be in this kind
of situation. Please understand. If you’re worried about me
imprinting on some other girl, don’t. Because I think I
imprinted on you. I just feel that way. I’m not sure with my
feelings. But I won’t ever even look at other girl except you,
Bella.
Bella, I love you.

- Jacob.

I gripped the paper tight. Nessie didn’t read this. Did she? I
asked myself. Damn it!

She must be angry. This letter was one of the many letters I
wrote to Bella, out of stupidity and young-minded craziness,
when she was with Edward and rejected me. Nessie must
have misunderstood this letter. Ugh!

I crushed and threw the letter and ran to the living room to
take the Volvo’s keys to search for Nessie. But the keys were
not there too!

I kept muttering ‘shit’ as I headed out from my house to

search where she was. And on the top of it all, it started
raining. I had to find Nessie. Right now!

I threw my shirt somewhere in the rain and phased to come

in contact with my pack.

What’s wrong, Jacob? Asked Sam and I felt the rest of the
pack being concerned and cautious.

I can’t find Nessie…. She- she ran away My thought sounded

like I was crying but I didn’t care. I was about to cry, in fact.

Sam ordered my pack and his, to search for Nessie. I wanted

to be alone and find her as fast I can. I didn’t want anybody
to make me feel worried more than how I felt right now.

The rain made my fur wet as I ran as fast as how Leah would
usually run. I didn’t care, though. But what made me worry
and panic was that, I lost track of Nessie’s scent due to the
rain and so did my pack.
I kept running but then I saw something black in the road. It
looked like a car. Edward’s Volvo!

Due to my heightened eye sight in my wolf form, I noticed

that it was tilted. Nessie must be in it!

I ran closer and found a man near the car. I became aware
that somebody was hurting Nessie! The pack heard my
thoughts and came out from the trees.

I was the lead. I pounced on the man and he started to fight

back to push me off of him. He was strong! He must be a
vampire!

The pack surrounded me to track him down in case if he ran

away. But I didn’t let him.

He snarled at me as I tried to tear his arms with the nails of

my paw. And I scratched his arm as he cried out in pain and
bit me. I lost my control on him as he tried to kick me once
his venom reached my veins.

As I fell down, my sharp nails came in contact with his foot

and I scratched him weakly. I saw Sam’s pack chasing the
running vampire as my pack stayed with me in the form of a
wolf.

The venom of a vampire was actually used as a poison to kill

us shapeshifters. I howled loudly in pain that anyone farer
than 5 miles could hear it.

Jacob, why were you so impatient to attack him! We could

have helped you Quil thought and pitied me.

The pain was terrible! Seth came out and put a branch of the
tree on my bottom once I phased back.
How’s Nessie? Where’s she? I thought to them. Embry
explained that Seth had freed her from the car in which she
was struck in. Oh, Nessie!

“Jacob!” I heard a yell and Nessie fell on her knees beside

me “Jacob…” She whispered. I saw that she had some
bruises on her body too.

“M’ Nessie” I said weakly. She gasped when she saw my

neck.

“The venom” She muttered “I need to take it out... Jacob, I’m

sorry!” Nessie said and bit the pulse-beat area in my hand
and I felt like everything including blood was being drained
out of me.

Soon, the Cullens surrounded us without speaking anything

but standing still as soon as they saw me getting the venom
sucked out by Nessie. The pack ran away somewhere once
the Cullens descended.

She pulled her mouth away from my hand, leaving her teeth
with dots of my blood.

“I’m so sorry” She said with tears running down her face. No!
Don’t be! I wanted to say.

Quil, Embry and Seth came running, wearing shorts and

lifted me up. That leech had bit me in the side of my neck
and I couldn’t move my head at all.

“We’re taking him back to La Push” Seth said suddenly

“Billy’s worried. He called us”

They then carried me to La Push, leaving my heart with

Nessie.

Renesmee’s POV
 We all ran to the Cullen Mansion, except dad, Emmet,
Jasper and Grandpa Carlisle. They had to track the vampire
and Grandpa Carlisle had to be with Jacob.

In the end, I never actually saw the man’s face. It started

raining and everything became vague near me. But after
this, I knew that my family would be very aware of what’s
happening around me.

Are there chances for Austin to be the vampire?

We reached home. I was still crying. I couldn’t believe what

had just happened. Jacob got bit by a vampire for god’s
sake!

“Can I go see Jacob now?” I asked mom, who was sitting on

the couch with her head on her hand. I had never seen her
like this before…

“No” Mom answered, her head still on her hands “We can’t
let you out after what had happened”

I frowned and headed to the cottage but mom stopped me

“Renesmee?”

I turned to her “We’re sorry about yesterday” She

apologized.

“You didn’t do anything wrong, mom. After all, you guys just
saved Renee from danger. Don’t be sorry” I sighed and ran
away to our cottage in the rain and headed to my bedroom.

I was not hurt very badly. So I thought I could aid myself

using a band aid and cotton, which was in my safety-kit. I
wiped the blood in my body with cotton. It actually hurt so I
yelped. I then put a band-aid on it.
“Austin, Austin, Austin” I kept muttering as I pinched my
eye-bridge, deep in thought. Stop stressing yourself I
thought. I went into the bathroom and watched my face.

I changed my wet clothes and put on my pajamas. I laid on

my bed as tears made their way down my cheeks.

This was all because of me. Jacob fought for me and now he
got bit by a vampire. I caused all this.

I shouldn’t have even taken dad’s car in the most

complicated situation I was. And now… I also damaged dad’s
car!

It would have been better if I had just got killed by the man,
who was come to be known as a vampire! Maybe, Austin?
But unfortunately, poor Jacob came to save me and now he’s
the one experiencing all the pain that I should have felt!

I kept thinking about Jacob and cried myself to sleep that

night.

Austin’s POV

I ran as fast as I could. The werewolves were no longer

following me as I was now running in the borders of the
Amazon to the Mansion, where my family is right now.

I was dripping wet as I stepped into the halls of our Mansion

to meet my master, who was surrounded by my two sisters
and their mates.

“Ah! Viktor Alvredus!” Liam Duncan, my master greeted me,

highlighting my real name as if I had achieved something
“Great to see you again after a long time, son”
I didn’t say a word except “Master” as I couldn’t find any
words to speak. I felt Liam’s red set of eyes, penetrating in
through me as if asking what was wrong.

“I see something’s wrong” He said, still concentrating on me

“What happened with our little dear hybrid? Did you use the
chance I gave you to kill her?”

I hated the way he called Renesmee a hybrid in such hatred

and disgust. In fact, she was no creature to be hated like
that. She was more than that. Something special.

“Master… The werewolves descended as soon as I found her.

And one of the werewolves tried to attack me, whom I
assume as the hybrid’s mate” I finished and showed him the
slight marks of the wolf’s paw in my arm, which was still
healing showing no blood. Liam stood up from his royal seat,
with his eyes widened in amazement.

“Well… I assume that it does hurt for a brave vampire you

are, Viktor” Liam said with his eyes still intent on me “The
werewolf has now hurt one such vampire of a kind…. Then
imagine! How many vampires would lose their lives because
of the offspring that the hybrid and the werewolf would
make!”

His voice ran through the hall and it would have definitely
made a human run away. But Liam had his own theories and
calculations about hybrids and werewolves...

I and my family were actually living in Europe as vampires,

away from humans to protect ourselves in the 1600’s. Those
were the times when real werewolves and hybrids made a
unique kind by mating. Their offspring.

There were many of them during that time. And my father

and mother were killed by one. After that Liam found me and
my sisters and adopted us to kill the species together. And
many such were destroyed that time.
Likewise, Liam believed that the offspring of Renesmee and
the ‘wolf’ can actually be powerful enough to destroy the
vampires. So, he sent me to kill Renesmee or the wolf when I
got the chance to. His plans were to destroy the dangerous
prophecy’s creators, as in Renesmee and the shape-shifters.

“Master, the wolves, whom we assume as werewolves, are

not real. I came to find out they are the ‘Shape-shifters’
shifting into wolves to protect humans from vampires” I
explained.

I believed that they may not bring any harm to us vampires

as the shape-shifters are not the real werewolves, who
actually ‘ate’ humans.

Liam stared at me suspiciously “Well dear… Are you fighting

for those sick species against your own family? Where you
belong to?” His voice was calmer than before.

“I-“ I started but he cut me off.

“I’ve heard enough!” He shouted yet again “You very well

know what happened to your mother and father because of
those creatures, don’t you, Viktor?”

“Yes… Master” I replied. How could I forget my life’s

tragedy?

“I’m giving you one last chance, Viktor” He warned “Kill that
hybrid or you be killed!”

I looked down. ‘Why can’t he better kill me right here to

make me kill such an innocent creature like Renesmee?’ was
all I could think at the moment.

“Are you regretting the job I’ve given to you, Viktor?” He

asked me.
“No master. I can not see what wrong the hybrid and the
wolf had done in all these years of their existence” I spoke
back without thinking for a minute. I noticed that this made
Liam angry.

He used his power of controlling the air around us and threw

me across the room. I hit the strong wall and fell down on
the ground with a loud sound.

“Surge perdidit’!” He shouted ‘Get Lost’ in Latin and walked

out of the room. I looked at the floor as my family walked
away with him, leaving me alone in the room.

Why do vampires always have to be heartless? All I can see

in Renesmee was pure innocence and the gracefulness of an
angel. But they won’t see that. Why?

When I saw Renesmee for the first time, all my thoughts to

destroy her completely vanished out of my mind. I couldn’t
help but adore her beauty, though it may sound absurd for a
vampire to confess this all.

I thought that I had to save her from whatever danger that I

myself was bringing to her. The offspring won’t be that
dangerous. But I’m just afraid of the wolf that hung out with
Renesmee all the time.

I’ve usually heard of humans taking revenge if somebody

doesn’t love them back.

But for me, love itself is revenge.

Jacob’s POV

Edward never let Nessie to come and see me. The reasons
being, she was actually grounded because of me and
another reason was because of the stupid leech that we all
were hunting except Nessie.

I never saw Nessie once I recovered after 3 days. It hurt me

mentally and physically to stay away from her. I healed
faster but my heart didn’t. It ached to be near Nessie.

So, the guys decided to take me, I mean forced me, to come
to the First Beach. Quil and Embry said that it would be a
part of ‘relaxation’ after the stress I’ve been experiencing
everyday when Nessie was not near me.

I, Quil and Embry walked along the shorelines of La Push,

admiring the winter sky above the ocean. I looked at the
waves crashing noisily on the shore, which actually made
Embry to dive into the ocean to surf but Quil persuaded him
in staying with us for while.

Everyone in my pack were here. Except Leah. I wondered

why. Even her brother, Seth was here, surfing. So I asked
Quil and Embry about her, as a concerning alpha I was,

“Have either of you heard from Leah, today?”

Quil and Embry stopped walking “Are you kidding? No one’s

heard from her for a month… She doesn’t even phase for a
long time” Embry replied. I frowned.

“What do you guys mean? I just talked to her yesterday

about the leech we are hunting” I said.

“She’s not even talking to Seth nowadays. But she’ll talk

only with you” Quil said. I noticed a slight smile tugging at
the corners of his lips.

I stopped. What? She wasn’t even talking to her brother? I

also noticed that these days when I phased, Leah was
completely ignoring the rest of the pack except me. What
was wrong with her?
“Why is that?”

“Because she’s in love with you” Embry said.

I burst out laughing. They can’t be serious. Leah? In love

with me? With whom are they trying to play with?

“You can’t be serious” I said and stared at them both, in

confusion.

“She was totally hooked in you since you separated from

Sam’s pack. Then something happened, then she fell for
you” Embry insisted.

“Leah still loves Sam” I said, rolling my eyes.

“She gave up on him many years ago” Quil said “You know
that Leah hated the Cullens from before. But just because
you imprinted on Nessie… She hates Nessie more than she
hates the rest of the Cullens”

Were they serious or was it just me not realizing the truth? I

found these statements as horrible truths that I will never or
ever hear. I love Nessie and only her. My heart will only
belong to her no matter what. Plus, Leah has been
concealing her thoughts from me during patrols. I hope that
Leah understands that I love Nessie and no one else…

“Now, do you see what you miss when you think only about
Nessie while patrolling?” Embry joked to erase the shock
from the atmosphere around me.

“Jake!”

I heard a voice. Was it Nessie? No, I was just dreaming.

Maybe, it was a part of my dreamy hallucination. She’s not
here. She’s not! I said to myself.
“Man, your girl’s here!” Embry said, nudging my shoulder
and I heard Quil shout “Claire!” So it means that Claire was
here with her too.

But… how did Edward let Nessie? I shook my head and

turned to look at her. And there she was, as beautiful as
ever.

She was wearing a yellow sundress, which hung a little

above her knees and her swift curls were flying backwards in
the air. She definitely looked like an angel. God must have
cut her wings and sent her to the Earth.

I felt rude, gawking at her like something. So I walked

towards her and I glanced at my side to see Quil hugging
Claire as if he’s going to squeeze the life out of her.

Nessie and I stood there without speaking anything before

she pouted. Why?

“Why don’t I get that kind of greeting?” Nessie teased,

staring at Quil and Claire. I grinned. A greeting was all she
wanted? I would present her with gazillions.

“No! Jake, no!” She shouted before I grabbed her and tossed
her over my shoulder. The others behind me laughed as
Nessie struggled to break-free out of my hard grasp. I then
playfully pinned her to a tree’s trunk and smirked.

“How was that for a greeting?” I asked jokingly and she

replied “Not bad”

“I missed you” I said as she gazed into my eyes.

“I missed you too” She whispered.

“Get a room you two!” Embry playfully yelled, which made

me walk away from her, embarrassed. Nessie must be
blushing. Hard.
“Essie!” Claire shouted, shortening Nessie’s name “Come
find sea glass with me!”

Claire ran towards us and grabbed hold of Nessie, pulling her

towards the ocean. There this moment occurred again –
Someone pulling Nessie away from me.

“Be careful Claire… Don’t get wet or your mom will kill me!”
Quil called after her.

“Don’t worry, Quil… I’ll take care of her” Nessie shouted

back, as they were walking away, leaving us imprinters
damn worried.

“Nessie is very great with Claire” Quil suddenly remarked.

I watched as Nessie laughed at Claire, who was excitedly

showing some sea glasses she found at the ocean.

“Yeah… Nessie loves kids” I said absent-mindedly. Suddenly,

a tingling feeling occurred in my stomach. I felt like my heart
was swelling with happiness as I looked at Nessie’s maternal
instincts take over. Wow! I wonder if-

“Jake?”

I cleared from my thoughts and looked at Quil and Embry,

who were staring at me curiously.

“I’m sorry… I was just thinking” I replied. But before they

both would get an idea that I was thinking about Leah, Quil
started suddenly.

“You know… Sue Clearwater is marrying Charlie Swan and

they’re going to have a party tomorrow?”
“Yeah, yeah… I know, Billy told me about it” I said. I figured
that Leah won’t be very happy to know that the Cullens
would soon be her Step-family. That too Nessie…

My thoughts were cut off by Quil shouting “Claire, no!” and I

found that Claire was knocked out by the waves. Nessie
dove in and brought Claire to the surface soon.

“Claire-bear, it’s alright” Quil said as he hugged Claire tightly

as she sniffed and cried. He turned to Nessie and thanked
her. She was all wet because of the water.

Soon, Quil left with Claire to Emily’s.

“All right” Embry started “I’ll meet you guys later. Have a
great afternoon”

I scowled when Embry winked at Nessie and left,

“Come on Jake… I’m bored, I wanna go to your house”

Nessie spoke.

I quickly forgot everything. Leah. That leech. I just wanted to

be with Nessie now.

I hope Edward won’t kill me…

We both walked towards my house. We stayed silent but

there were so many questions lying in the tip of my tongue.
So I wanted to know…

“So how did you come to the beach?” I asked casually,

hiding my curiousness. I believed that it was impossible for
Edward or Nessie’s family to let her alone during this time,
when a vampire was after her.

“Well, actually dad drove me to the beach after Billy told me

that you were here” She said. Oh. So she searched for me…
“And then I found Claire and played with her before finding
you guys”

I nodded after her explanation. I was glad that Edward let

her. Very glad.

“You know” She started “I enjoyed a lot this afternoon…

Claire is a very good company to have”

I’ve never heard any one appreciate a nine-year old except

Quil. Actually, Nessie didn’t stress herself to entertain Claire.
Nessie’s own presence entertained and made people happy.

I noticed Nessie’s eyebrows furrowed as if she was thinking

something.

“What’s wrong?” I asked her.

“Well… Even though I enjoyed this afternoon, there are still

certain things to worry and decide” She sighed. I found out
that she was referring to the vampire.

I wanted to tell her that I will always look after her and she
had nothing to worry about. But I prevented myself from
telling her.

I nodded and waited to talk again, until we reached the

backyard of my home which was just feet away from the
dark woods that were growing darker as the sun started to
set.

“Do you want me to take you back?” I offered. Even though

Edward would come to pick her up, I would at least follow
her as a wolf.

“No, its okay Jacob” Nessie said a bit firmly “I will be able to
do it with the help of dad. I need to do it”
I didn’t know what to say to that as I was afraid if I would not
control my mouth for myself. I had just spent 1 hour, which
felt like a day, with the love of my life and still I was terrified
by the thought of her leaving me.

Imprinting sucks sometimes!

“Thank you, Jacob” She said suddenly.

I smiled slightly “Why’re you thanking me?”

“You’re the one who saved me from the vampire and you
even suffered the pain, which I should have before” She
replied. No! She was wrong. Absolutely wrong.

“Nessie, don’t talk like that. You know that I’d do anything
for you” I said, facing her and smiled. Before I could stop
myself, the words left my lips.

….”I love you”

Oh… God.

Nessie looked up at me, her eyes wide as she stared at me.

She was about to say ‘what?’ But then her eyes looked as if
she was looking for something.

“I love you too”, she said softly. Was this really happening?

At that moment, I noticed the tears sparkling at the corners

of her eyes. I wiped a tear before it reached her cheek
“Nessie” I whispered soothingly.

“Jake, I..”

I couldn’t think about anything. I moved closer as I felt my

instincts take over than my thoughts. Let this happen,
finally!
I lowered my face towards hers, crushing my burning lips to
her lips, which were wet as she saved Claire that time.

I felt Nessie trying to resist, until her lips settled into mine
completely. The absolute feeling of heaven overwhelmed
me.

The kiss remained nothing more than just that – a perfect

first kiss from Nessie! After a moment that felt like eternity
to me, Nessie and I pulled apart to breath.

“Oh, Jake… this…” Nessie uttered. I didn’t know what to say

either. Should I ask her how it felt? Or should I wait?

I kept looking down but when I looked back at her…

….. She turned away, running into the dark woods, without
so much as another word.

I watched her go…. Unable to move or take a decision. It

took me a moment to collect my thoughts, before a sinking
feeling overtook my heart.

I had done it. I had finally shown Nessie how I felt all this
time; from the beginning of her teenage years till now. I had
made her feel the way how I felt, and she had given me a
chance. She had reciprocated my feelings.

And she had run away.

Of course, my statements were true. Imprinting doesn’t have

a firm rule that an imprintee must fall for the imprinter when
the final stage has come. The pack and the elders were
wrong. So wrong.

Billy had told me that Imprinting made wolves stronger. But

no, it only made me weak now.
I now understand that I would always be no more than a
brother to Nessie.

If she could even stand to look at me any more.

It had been 3 months since I’ve posted in
Scribd. Apparently, this chapter was a little bit
tricky to think and write.

The next chapter has a bit of suspense. I hope
