Digital Learning
Digital Learning
Digital learning is conducted via a portfolio of electronic resources and digital media on an online
platform like Google classroom or Canvas. The digital media may be composed of videos, blogs,
Facebook, audio, chats, digital collaboration, and personal learning networks. These electronic resources
are used for delivering instructions, engaging the students and in making student assessments. Students
and teachers are expected to be connected to these resources in every aspect of the learning process,
and to personalize their learning through the use of technology. Books may be written to have digital
components, such as links to a video or an article, as well as a variety of other media that we are
incorporating into one collection of work for everyone to access, all after the chapter or activity as
educational enrichments. The inclusions of digital learning can vary from simply using cellular phones
instead of paper, to using elaborate software programs and equipment as opposed to the simple pen.
The Curriculum is now being digitized or infused with digital elements to be able to deliver online
classes. Digital learning is already replacing the traditional in-school educational methods because of the
tremendous need for home study, personalized instructions, and now the pandemic. Digital and online
programs may range from basic education to university and vocational levels. The digital curriculum
allows for a flexible blended learning environment or an entirely online one. The instructors deliver all
the curriculum materials via an online platform or learning management system (LMS). Ebooks are also
replacing the printed textbooks, which can be quickly opened on a smartphone, tablet or a computer.
With how rapidly the educational formats are changing, it is best to start thinking about newer teaching
and learning techniques based on the use of electronic resources and technologies.
Self-directed learning skills are much more developed with the use of digital curriculum and digital
learning tools. Students are becoming more resourceful in finding and using online resources, they are
able to identify what they need to learn, and even evaluate the internet materials. In addition to
engaging the students, digital tools can sharpen their critical thinking skills, which can improve the
development of analytic reasoning. Learners who work on their own explore questions with their
imagination and creativity and learn how to make decisions. The learners also develop positive feelings
of accomplishment
from mastering new knowledge using digitized learning tools, giving them the confidence to learn even
more new things. This is so much opposed to textbook learning of 20 years ago wherein learners are just
temporarily memorizing.
Since digital curriculum materials are far more interactive and memorable to learners, they provide
a newer sense of perspective and more engaging activities. The curriculum materials allows students to
connect better as they offer a more interesting way to internalize the information. This may be reflected
in their retention rates and test scores on online platform education. Students can also track their own
progress online which can improve motivation and dedication to learning.
Traditional face-to-face lectures may still be needed along with the new-age digitized learning tools,
particularly in the clarifications and reinforcement of knowledge. Classroom time is better used for more
engaging team and collaborative activities and in completing class projects. Human interaction, in the
time of virtual education, can become rare, however, it is very necessary for well-being.
