SECTION ASSESSMENT
1. Name three natural phenomena that your barangay considers as hazard. Explain why they
are considered as hazards. Indicate your barangay and post evidence (a picture) of the
identified hazard
*Electrical hazard because of poor wiring *landslide because of heavy rain
*thunderstorm
2. Explain what is meant by “Buildings kill people, not earthquakes.”
Because most of the people that died during
these earthquakes were killed because of such poorly constructed buildings
and that was meant by this line
3. Is the large magnitude of a natural hazard a guarantee for a disaster? Why or why not?
No because a disaster is an event that transpires which is beyond the locals’
normal response capacity.
4. Explain how a seemingly harmless normal river flows in the middle of a rapidly
developing city, can later cause a disaster?
When theres a heavy rain that happens anf then the river water started to
overflow then damge the houses nearby and kill the plants and animals
