Units
Change the units under Tools, Option, Document Properties.

COPY
To just copy a feature from one place to another is a little difficult. You have to left click on the skectch
of the feature hit” Ctrl C” then create a new sketch on the plane you want and hit “Ctrl V” Then you
have to move the sketch to the desired location. To link the extrude or cut you have to link the
dimension.

LINK

It is nice to link dimensions, especially if you are copying sketches, you should link the dimensions. TO
do so when you enter the dimension click Link, you then have to Name the dimension. That way when
you are working on the copied part you can link the dimension and just click from the names you have
created. But to change both of them you have to change the Parent Dimension.

Drawings
Open a new drawing and to insert the part go to the right hand side and click the View Palette, then
browse for the part and then you can just drag the views over into the drawing. NOTE sometimes even
when you project the view it is the wrong view, example the top might be the bottom.

To Edit the drawing Sheet, Right click and select Edit Sheet Format. Then just click on the text you want
to modify it. To add new text Right click and select Annotate.

To do a Leader or Note just Select Note and the leader and note are automatic.

Also for a note you can link the property, when before you place the note go to the left and select link
property under the Text Format tab.

For the Viewport Scale if using the parent scale it will be linked to the title block.

To change the dimension scale or accuracy go to tools and then option and under document go to
dimension and you can change everything there.

To delete lines in the viewport that you don’t need or clutter up the drawing click on the line and then
use the Hide Edge tool from the Line formatting tool to Hide it.

Views

To do a crop view which is just a small section you have to sketch the boundry where you want the crop.
For Assembly drawings
You can add sheets to the file for each individual part. If you have a previous saved file you can just
open in and click copy on the sheet and then in the new assbly dwg click paste.

Bill of Materials

Click on the view you want then go to Annotate, Tables, Bill of Materials, Check Parts only. The Bill will
give you a list of the Item No, file name, Description which is linked to the file name when you save it,
and Qty. TO edit any of this information just double click it. But then you have to Break the link to put in
what you want. My version does not allow a description when saving.

To create Balloons right click and select Annotate and then Balloon, click on the part you want and place
the balloon, note that the balloon number will correspond with the Bill of Materials.

To add columns or rows to the Bill just right click on it and select Insert

Adding additional views. Go to the actual assymbly. Under the configuration manager, Right click and
select ADD configuration. You then can move the assembly to the desired position then once it is the
way you want double click on the default configuration.

When you start a new assembly dwg right click in the view port and click properties you then can select
what orientation / configuration the dwg is. NOW to make the additional view, go to View Layout tab
and then click Alt Position View. Then select the desired configuration. It will show up as dashed lines.

Material Changer
Under the Main Tree you can edit the Material.
If you click the body or face you can change the color, Face, Body, the whole extrude, or the whole part.

Revolves
When making the sketch make sure it is a closed loop. To make a sphere only make half of it on one side
of the center line then revolve it.

Hole Wizard Feature

Make a series of holes, But when doing the position use Liner Sketch pattern. If you want to set a
certain distance make sure to click “Add Dimension” but if you want equally spaced holes do NOT check
it.

Text
Adding Text to a part a couple different ways. First click on the face you want the Text, then create a
Sketch. Next click on the “A” tool in the sketch menu to create text. In the text window Type what text
you want. To place the text on the surface just Left click where you want it. Note you can also change
the font and size. Once you have it positioned where you want it then click OK.
Exit the Sketch. Click on Insert, Feature, Wrap. For the Source Sketch go to the Tree and select the text
sketch. Then you can either Sript which just prints it or Emboss or Deboss, Extrude/cut.

Assembly
The part must be diffined in three planes. To line up holes use Concentric.

TO make an assembly move use the Move compent command and check the Physical Dynamics.

SWEEPS
To make a spring first create a circle the diameter of the spring. Then go to features curves, Helix, then
create the number of turns, pitch height etc. Exit the sketch and then go to features and use the Sweep
feature. You must have two sketches, The Profile and the path the profile will take.

You can also do Sweep cuts.

Sweeps are great for making PIPE.
Note that a sweep does not have to be always a circle it can be anything

Lofts
To make a loft, Merge one geometric shape into another, you must have two sketched profiles.

Simulation Analysis Wizard

You can apply loads and stress to your part to see where it is weak. This program runs a simulation.
Under the Evaluate tab click the simulation anaylsis wizard, Next select the face that will remain Fixed.
Follow the steps to Add the load. Finally click run, it will show you an animation of the deformation.
Then you can look at the stress in blue and red. Then create a HTM file which will give you a report.
