WORKSHEET Module 6
2. What are the seven environmental principles of nature? Discuss each one.
1) Nature knows best.
o People must comprehend nature and follow the principles it establishes. In
essence, if one wants to maintain a continual and consistent flow of resources,
one must not go against natural processes.
2) All forms of life are important.
o Because each creature plays such an important part in nature, all living beings
must be regarded as priceless instruments in the ecosystem's equilibrium.
3) Everything is connected to everything else.
o All components of an ecosystem interact with one another to guarantee that the
system is sustainable, and any outside meddling can cause an imbalance and
degeneration.
4) Everything changes.
o There is a beneficial improvement but people must reconsider their connection
with the environment using applicable technology.
5) Everything must go somewhere.
o Wastes may resurface in other forms in one's own backyard, it's critical to
understand the many types of trash, categorize and segregate those that are
poisonous or possibly harmful.
6) Ours is a finite earth.
o Awareness of the earth's limited resources leads to a conscious effort to change
one's attitude and initiative to recycle them.
7) Nature is beautiful and we are stewards of God's creation.
o Being the most intelligent and being gifted with reason, humans are capable of
controlling and taking care of the creation to their own advantage.
3. What are the roles of teachers, learners and the school in attaining sustainable
environmental goals?
o Teacher play a crucial role in forming, changing and establishing attitudes and values
that foster socially and emotionally engaged Eco-literacy. They are reorienting
education at all levels in order to assist each individual in thinking and acting in ways
that promote a more sustainable environment. Teachers prepare students with the
necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in order for them to develop critical
and creative thinking skills, participate in authentic interdisciplinary learning activities,
and develop a value system that emphasizes responsibility to oneself, others, and
especially the environment.
o On the other hand, the learner’s role in aiming for sustainable environment is to give
sense to the global connection and gain empathy for the earth as a whole. Learners
acquisitions to gain knowledge about sustainable environment sets motivation to
create ideas that promote the cognitive and affective abilities with the integration of
emotional, social and ecological intelligences understanding of natural systems and
cognitive skills with empathy for all of life
o The School on the other hand play a great role in the development of academics but
also environmental ethics and care for nature among students. This encourage
economic sustainability through sharing, and re-use things, as well as favoring
recyclable materials. Furthermore, environmental sustainability educates to focused
on students' everyday behaviors in school as well as the content of many school
disciplines. This will allow its students to connect with their surroundings and attend
to their health and safety needs, while motivating them to learn and imbibe a sense of
belongingness and sensitivity towards the school, society and even this plane
4. How can you create a Green School? How can this help and benefit Philippine
schools?
o Green School is beneficial to the Philippine schools because it is healthy for the
learners and conducive to their education attainment since these encourage positive
views to improve performance. This also gives a high indoor quality to improve
student’s health which is an excellent acoustics to increase learning potentials. It also
attains thermal comfort to increase learners as occupant to satisfaction.
5. How can eco-literacy be integrated in the curriculum, practiced in the school and
demonstrated in the classroom?
Eco-literacy can be integrated in the curriculum, practice in the school and
demonstrated in the classroom in a way that the instructions are associated with the
real-life events and issues that concerns the environment. Starting by tackling the
local issues found in the barangay and municipality such as the waste disposal
management, the cleanliness in their own surroundings, making vegetables and fruit
gardens, and even to vaccination of their pets. Through encouraging the learners on
what they can do for the environment such participating in tree planting activities,
pulot-basura, environmental awareness campaigns, and proposing environmental
action plans, eco-literacy is surely acquired by the learners. Also, environmental
actions must start in the classroom by using eco-friendly materials, recycling anything
that is possible to recycle, and always reminding the learners and the teachers to
value our nature and environment as a whole. The attitude of valuing the
environment must not end in the school but the learners and educators must bring it
and practice it in their homes and influencing their family and the whole community
because that is the best representation that a certain individual is an eco-literate
person.
