INTRODUCTION
The lecture is a teaching procedure consisting of clarification or explanation of facts,
principles or relationships which the teacher wishes the class to understand.
DEFINITION
Lecture is a teaching activity where by the teacher presents the content in a
comprehensible manner by explaining the facts ,principles and relation ships during which
the teacher is explained to elicit student participation by employing appropriate
techniques.

CLASSICAL MODEL-This model is best suited for the transaction of information.
PROBLEM CENTERED MODEL-This model is most suited to creating interest.
SEQUENTIAL MODEL-This model is most suited in promoting understanding.
PURPOSE OF LECTURES
To provide structural knowledge
To motivate and guide in hunting knowledge
To arouse student’s interest in subjects.
Introduce students to new areas of learning
To clarify difficult concepts
To assist in preparing students for a discussion
To promote critical thinking

PREPERATION OF LECTURE
Objectives of lecture should be defined
Lecture must know the material thoroughly
Lecture showed bare central theme
Teacher will make sure that important points in her class are made clear before going
to the next point
Teacher will use illustrations and interact questions
Lecture should provide intervals for clarification of thought, assimilation of ideas.
PRESENTING THE LECTURE
Should be casual rather than very formal
FACTORS IN GOOD LECTURE TECHNIQUE
Teacher should left their personality speaks.
Mannerism should be avoided. Voice should be audible to the class.
Maintain face-face and eye to eye contact
Always necessary to get off to a good start.
