Office Information System: Stephanie Magcarang

The document discusses different types of information systems: 1. Office Information System (OIS) helps employees collaborate and optimize workflows through software, hardware, and networks. 2. Transaction Processing System (TPS) processes data transactions, such as holding an online ticket purchase until the transaction is complete. 3. Expert System uses artificial intelligence to simulate human judgment and behavior in a particular field through a knowledge base and rules engine. 4. Decision Support System (DSS) supports decision-making by analyzing data and presenting comprehensive information. 5. Management Information System (MIS) provides managers with network-accessible data from stored in databases for analysis, monitoring, decision-making and reporting.

1. Office Information System

The Office Information System (OIS) is an advanced word processing system of

the hardware, software and processes that provides the technical support and
services for the timely retrieval of accurate information by computerized systems to
enable effective planning, operation and monitoring of services.

Meaning an office information system, or OIS, is a software, hardware, and

network-based information system that helps employees collaborate and optimizes
work flow. It is now well recognized that maintaining an organization's or IT
department's information resource is frequently just as important.

2. Transaction Processing System

A Transaction Processing System is a set of information which processes the

data transaction in database system that monitors transaction programs. The
system is useful when something is sold over the internet. It allows for a time delay
between when an item is being sold to when it is actually sold. An example is that of
a sporting event ticket. While the customer is filling out their information to purchase
the seat ticket; the transaction processing system is holding the ticket so that
another customer cannot also buy it. It allows for a ticket not to be sold to two
different customers.

On my own understanding TPS is all system that processes the data transaction;
this can be use when we are purchasing item online and pay using cheque .

3. Expert System

An expert system is a computer program that uses artificial

intelligence (AI) technologies to simulate the judgment and behavior of a human or an
organization that has expert knowledge and experience in a particular field.
Typically, an expert system incorporates a knowledge base containing accumulated
experience and an inference or rules engine -- a set of rules for applying the knowledge
base to each particular situation that is described to the program. The system's
capabilities can be enhanced with additions to the knowledge base or to the set of rules.
Current systems may include machine learning capabilities that allow them to improve
their performance based on experience, just as humans do.
For me an expert system is a computer program designed to solve difficult
problems, using expert system it can improve the progress of one company because it
can do whatever human can make.

4. Decision Support System

A decision support system (DSS) is a computerized program used to support

determinations, judgments, and courses of action in an organization or a business. A
DSS sifts through and analyzes massive amounts of data, compiling comprehensive
information that can be used to solve problems and in decision-
making(Margaret,2021)

For me, based from the word itself decision support system, is a computer
program that help to support decision in a business, it would gather data, assess
data and make decisions on behalf of the user. At the very least, they enable
humans to make better-informed decisions in less time.

5.) Management Information System

Management information systems combine hardware, software and network

products in an integrated solution that provides managers with data in a format
suitable for analysis, monitoring, decision-making and reporting. The system collects
data, stores it in a database and makes it available to users over a secure network.

This indicates, to me, that this system aids in the management of information; it
investigates how people, technology, and organizations interact; and it focuses on
how to employ technology, people, and processes to assist businesses in improving,
altering, and supporting their operations.
