• Emulate some of Rizal’s values that they admire

C. Additional Writings of Rizal

1. To the Young Women of Malolos


 What are the main points of the letter? Or what are the things women should be?
1. Filipino mothers should teach their children love of God, country and
fellowmen.
2. Filipino mothers should be glad and honored, like Spartan mothers,
to offer their sons in defense of their country.
3. Filipino women should educate themselves aside from retaining their good racial values.
4. Filipino women should know how to protect their dignity and honor.
5. Faith is not merely reciting prayers and wearing religious pictures. It is living the real Christian
way with good morals and manners.

2. The Philippines A century Hence


 Give the key points or the message that Rizal wanted to convey through this writing
1. Deterioration and disappearance of Filipino indigenous culture, when Spain
came with the sword and the cross, it began the gradual destruction of the
native Philippine culture
2. To remind Spain that the circumstances that ushered in the French
Revolution could have a telling effect for her in the Philippines.
3. Filipinos have lost confidence in their past, lost faith in the present, and lost
their hopes in the future.
4. Using the past to understand the present thus predicting the future.
5. The Filipinos will still be under Spain if they will implement the freedom of press and the
Filipinos has representation in the Spanish Cortes.

3. To the Filipino Youth


 Give the key points or the message that Rizal wanted to convey through this writing
1. He wants the youth to wake up from being under the Spanish rule and do something for a
change. Rizal believe that Youth is the hope of the country.
2. It urges the Filipino youth to reach their potential by harnessing their skills and talents for the
betterment of our countrymen.
3. It motivates the youth to free Filipinos from ignorance and to seek freedom and human dignity.
4. The importance of one’s love and appreciation to his dialect or language, for it is the bridge and
intermediary connecting people’s country to each other.
5. To refine and nurture their talents in the arts, to invigorate and reinforce their knowledge of the
sciences, and to look forward and comminute their chain of servitude.

4. Mi último adios
 Give the key points or the message that Rizal wanted to convey through this writing
1. Rizal wants that the youth of today will continue what he had just started for the independence
that he had fight for.
2. Being thankful of some Filipino’s who had just committed their lives for the love of their
motherland.
3. Willingness to die for his motherland and bids goodbye to his love ones, his country and to all
people whom he cared for.
4. Tells us how beautiful the Philippines is and how Rizal wants us to learn from our past and to
see the truth about how the world view us.
5. To honor his homeland, the pre-Hispanic Philippines, for which he was giving his life.

5. The Indolence of the Filipino People


 Give the key points or the message that Rizal wanted to convey through this writing

1. To defend the Filipinos from the charge that they were born
indolent.
2. To illustrate how we inherited some of our negative traits
from the Spaniards.
3. To show us that we have been deceived.
4. To let us know how we could rise from oppression.
5. To remind us what were the Filipinos during the Spaniards colonization.
