OK Autrod 5356: Mig/Mag Wires (Gmaw) Aluminum Wires

OK Autrod 5356 is an aluminum MIG welding wire that is a general purpose alloy commonly used for its relatively high shear strength. It has an AlMg5 composition and is non-heat treatable. The wire can be used on 5XXX aluminum alloys but welding alloys with over 3% magnesium at temperatures over 65°C may be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. Recommended welding parameters including current and voltage are provided for various wire diameters ranging from 0.8 to 2.4 mm.

MIG/MAG WIRES (GMAW)

ALUMINUM WIRES

OK Autrod 5356
OK Autrod 5356 is the most widely used welding alloy and can be classified as a general purpose type filler alloy. OK Autrod 5356 is typically chosen because of its
relatively high shear strength. The 5XXX alloy base material, welded with OK Autrod 5356, with a weld pool chemistry greater than 3 % Mg and service temperatures in
excess of 65°C are susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. The alloy is non-heat treatable.
