MD’S MESSAGE
ZAMURRUD KHAN
My mission is to provide a wheel chair to the last needy in Pakistan. This actually
means to eradicate poverty through helping disables. I believe, if there is any disabled
person in a family it involves the whole family to take care of him but if there are more
than one disabled people in one household then what happens. The parents loose hope
and that's why, PBM has introduced a policy of providing Rs. 25000/- to such families
who have more than one disabled person.
God Bless Pakistan and PBM as we will always be there for all needy and helpless
people of this country.
Long Live Democracy as it has provided us with the opportunity to do something for the
people of Pakistan, those who actually deserve help. May Allah give me strength to
fulfill my vision and mission of "Don't leave them halfway".

As the name implies, “Pakistan Sweet Homes” mean the children who are living in these
centers shall be nice, intelligent and well-groomed. Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has started a
new project for orphans, which can justifiably be called as mother to the motherless. It
does all what a mother does to her children. Pakistan Sweet Homes is one of the
largest projects of the PBM, which provides not only residential facilities to about 1,500
orphan children but also educational facilities to make them better citizens.
Pakistan has very rich tradition of providing care to Orphans and children without
parental support. Since signing of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989,
Pakistan has taken various initiatives for fulfilling its obligations. PBM Act-1991 (as
amended) Clause 4 (d) speaks that the money in the Bait-ul-Mal shall be utilized to
provide residential accommodation and necessary facilities to the persons specified in
clause-4(a) i.e. destitute and needy widows and orphans etc. Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal,
therefore, has decided to establish Orphanages at Divisional level. In this regard 40
Orphanage centers will be established having accommodation of 100 children each.
The centers have been set up in rented buildings. The rent of a building ranges
between Rs 50,000 and Rs 100,000 depending on its location and size. But in some
cases the sponsors also contribute in paying the rent. As pilot, 13 Sweet Pakistan
Homes (Orphanages) have been established in the following districts
PUNJAB SINDH KHYBER BALOCHISTAN AJK/NAs
PAKHTUNKWA
(KPK)
Rawalpindi Larkana Mardan Quetta Sihala
Multan Nawabshah Abbottabad Muzaffarabad
Bahawalpur Mirpurkhas Mansehra Gilgit

and internally displaced families having lost their two or one parent.

on between the PBM and Faryal Talpur, the sister of President Zardari, to sponsor the

PLANS
The PBM has planned to launch more such centers and 19 new centers are in the
pipeline which are expected be functional in April this year having accommodation of
100 children each. The centers would be established in Lahore, Khanewal, Faisalabad,
Sahiwal, Khoshab, Attock, Jhelum, Jhang, Chakwal, Karachi, Sukkar, Peshawar, Zhob,
Islamabad, Sadhnoti and Skardu.
Sweet Home for senior citizens has been launched at Sihala by Managing Director
Pakistan Bait ul Maal (PBM) Zamurd Khan. Under the pilot project four canters would be
established at provisional capitals Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta soon and on
special request a centre would also be set up at Gilgit-Baltistan.
Initially six persons Sheikh Ahmed Din from Rawalpindi, Riaz Ul Haq from Gujjar Khan,
Muhammad Ayub Lodhi from Rawalpindi, Farooq from Lahore, Akbar Shah from
Chakwal and Ghulam Anwar from Rawalpindi have been registered with the first centre.
PBM plans to expand this project to district level on availability of resources. Likewise,
Sweet Homes for orphan girls would be established in June this year at all the 11
districts where Sweet Homes for boys are being set-up.
CONCLUSION
There is a great need to accommodate orphan children as millions of children have lost
their one or both parents due to war on terror, bombings, natural calamities and for
other reasons. And if they are not taken care off and imparted good education they may
indulge in negative activities.
