Error 40014
- Try restarting the game completely, checking the launcher is fully closed in task manager, then
joining a different server region
1. Exit back to main menu
2. Click universe then click Stanton
3. Before you click 'visit location' look for the drop down box up the top (usually says BEST)
4. Using that drop down box, change server region to AUS, USA or EU
5. Click 'visit location' - try all the regions until one works
- Make sure that multiple Launchers are not running in your system tray (next to Windows
clock).
- If it still does not work, close the game and shutdown your computer. Wait a minute or two
before turning it back on. Wait a further 10 minutes before starting the launcher then try to login.
- See this article for possible router or port sharing issue:

Error 10002:
Please ensure that you are currently using the LIVE Delta Patcher (not the PTU one unless
you’ve been invited to PTU unless PTU is available and you have copied your account to PTU
servers) to download and launch the game. The delta patcher can be found here:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/download
- Otherwise Try running the launcher as administrator
- Ensure that RSI Launcher.exe and StarCitizen.exe are whitelisted in your firewall and
antivirus. (double check)
- If you have a strange local network setup (like connecting a laptop
- Try restarting your router if possible
- Otherwise perhaps the servers are having issues or everyone was kicked from the server
- If you continue to have this error and have downloaded the game with the new delta patcher:
1. Cut and paste the ‘Live’ folder somewhere else (Usually at \Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE)
2. Delete the launcher and install it again (to delete: Ensure launcher is completely closed,
then delete the delta patcher folder (usually Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\RSI Launcher)
3. Start downloading the game, then when it starts downloading the 39GB file, immediately
pause the download
4. Close launcher and copy back the ‘Live’ folder - place it back in its original location from
step 1
5. Re-Open the launcher, click ‘settings’ button then click ‘verify’.
- Some users may need to create and play from a VPN. If VPN works, but not opening ports
locally, you need to contact your ISP to have ports opened.

1. If you're using a setup that has the router and modem as separate pieces of hardware, try
temporarily bypassing the router by plugging the modem directly into the computer ( don't leave
it like this because it's terrible security). If that works, then there's something in the router
settings causing the problem
2. The computer can be ran using selective startup to limit the programs that are running in the
background to help diagnose if there's anything causes the problem.
3. Try restarting the windows base filtering engine. There should be steps on how to do that
online in the windows support center

Alternatively, if all else fails and you continually receive “Error - CIG services [CODE 15007]
Account data update failed. Synchronizing account data with the game network either failed or
timed out”
- Try contacting CIG technical support and ask them to check the state of your account.
It could potentially be corrupted and require a reset by CIG.

- Some issues are due to graphic problems timing out shaders, etc. The timeout may return as
one of these connectivity errors.
- This could point to some corruption in the data.p4k file. If you have a friend with the game then
try replacing it with theirs. Otherwise backup and/or replace it with a fresh download and adjust
launcher connection settings to lower figures

Error: Couldn't find user information. Crashhandler will exit
- No 100% confirmed easy solution yet - please add comments if you find a solution
- Ensure you’re running the game from the ‘RSI launcher’, not starcitizen.exe
- Possibly because you changed the file location on your computer.
- Try running launcher as admin, click ‘settings’ then click ‘change’ to locate the new directory
where you moved the Roberts Space Industries folder to.
- Then click ‘Settings’ and click ‘Verify’ then try again.
- Otherwise, if you have it - delete the loginData.json file in the LIVE directory or restart PC.
- Check any extra security software for logs of the event (they might be blocking it)
- Check the Launcher log.log in %appdata%\rsilauncher\log.log or rsiPTULauncher\log.log.
- if log has EPERM or permissions or EACCES see>
support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002284834
- Otherwise you may need to redownload the whole thing again.
- Otherwise follow steps below:
1. Completely close the delta patcher (ensure it’s closed by checking task manager)
2. Delete the delta patcher folder (default C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\RSI Launcher)
3. Re-Download the delta patcher launcher, install it to the same location (you may need to
verify files after this)
-----------------------
Error: “Launch game error Error: Command failed”: C:\Program Files\Roberts Space

- Cause / simple solution TBA (please provide solutions if you have em!)
- Check for missing Visual C++ Redistributable. Both, 2015 and 2017 are required. Parts of
2015 get replaced by 2017, thus it won't be shown in Programs and Features anymore.
Download Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable from http://www.microsoft.com/en-
us/download/details.aspx?id=40784. Choose vcredist_x64.exe. You might have to use Internet
Explorer or Firefox for this as there have been issues with Chrome.
- Ensure you’re running the game from the ‘RSI launcher’, not directly from starcitizen.exe
- Try restarting your PC, has worked for some
- Win10 N version users: Download the Windows Media Feature pack which provides required
DLLs: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack
- Disable any overclocking software including ASUS GPU Tweak II or MSI afterburner
- Try running launcher as administrator
- Carefully read the manual for your Antivirus and look for extra exclusions. Or try their support
services. (Avast, Panda, Malwarebytes, etc.)
- Otherwise delete the Delta Patcher launcher and reinstall it:
1. Completely close the delta patcher (ensure it’s closed by checking task manager)
2. Delete the delta patcher folder (default C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\RSI Launcher)
3. Download launcher, install it to the same location (you may need to verify files after this)
- Otherwise: completely removing old installs of 3.0 and new delta patcher then doing a fresh
install with administrator rights has worked for some. support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-
us/articles/360000060747#fullydelete
- To ensure complete removal of files, ensure the launcher is completely closed (check task
manager and the taskbar near the clock). You may need to manually delete files using windows
explorer. You may have some remnants of files in the registry to delete too.
- Wipe everything possible manually, then do a fresh install using administrator rights, then run
the launcher as administrator
-----------------------
Data.p4k - Error: “Cannot open data.p4k..”
or
“Failed to verify file. “
- These fixes below do not work for everyone. A complete manual removal of all star citizen files
and complete reinstallation with administrator rights often doesn’t even fix the issue for many. If
you have a trusted friend with a data.p4k file that is working for them, you can copy that
data.p4k file to your computer and use that which does often repair the issue, however the
data.p4k file is over 30GB and you should only use highly trusted files and download from
people otherwise you risk getting hacked or receiving viruses etc.
- Some people report waiting it out while leaving the error message open works for them
- Restart your computer and try again
- Otherwise close all instances of the launcher (right click system tray icon and click ‘exit’
(double check with task manager)
- Delete the rsilauncher folder, usually located at (C:\Users\
[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\rsilauncher) or (%appdata%\rsilauncher)
- Delete the Bin64 folder, usually located at (\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE\Bin64)
- Start up a VPN, run launcher as administrator (right click > run as administrator), click
‘settings’ then click ‘verify’. Tunnelbear is a free VPN recommended by CIG in the past.
- Otherwise if possible, use a VPN to download a fresh install, or use a different network as
perhaps it’s related to your ISP. If doing this then decrease the default aggressive connection
settings (try 5-10 connections, lower range MB/s).
- For the cleanest download, use a wired connection or make sure your WiFi is not congested.

-- Launcher issues --
Can’t login to launcher
1) Ensure you’re using the new Delta Patcher for LIVE (not the PTU one) - can be found here:
http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/download
2) Double check you’re logging in with your **secret LOGIN ID**, not your @handle or
community ‘moniker’, not your email address - check it by going to
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/security - use LOGIN ID from this page
3) Make sure your account is activated via email - check your email SPAM folders for a missed
“activate your account” message from [email protected] If can’t find your
‘activate your account’ email, perform Account Recovery (clicking the link in the email will
activate the account) (1. Click ‘Account’ top right, 2. click ‘sign out’ 3. click ‘Account’ top right
again then 4. Click ‘account recovery' and enter the email associated with your RSI account.)
4) Look for the message "ATTENTION! You must confirm your account is not a bot. Please visit
the RSI Website and sign in to your account, then try again." - if you see this:
1. Completely close your launcher (make sure it is not running in the system tray or task
manager)
2. Open a private browsing window to log in:
Firefox: CTRL+SHIFT+P
Chrome: CTRL+SHIFT+N
3. Then do the CAPTCHA while logging in to prove you're not a bot. Do NOT check "Remember
me".
4. If the login still does not work after that, in the launcher hit CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R to reset the
launcher settings. Or delete the contents of %appdata%\rsilauncher\ while the launcher is
closed.
- If you have a 2-factor authentication backup code, use that to login to the launcher
- If not, disable and re-enable your 2-factor authentication
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/security
- If it still isn't working after all that, submit a ticket to customer support and explain what
you tried already: https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/requests/new (To
best accommodate your request please sign-in.)
- See other suggestions in this thread:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/4/thread/cant-login-
the-launcher-3-1-1/1062169
5) It's possible your USER content needs to be rebuilt.
- Open a file explorer.
- Locate the folder: (install drive)\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE
- Delete the USER folder.
- Fully shutdown your computer.
- Boot up. Open the Launcher and try logging in again with your Login ID and password!
https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000161747-Troubleshoot-the-
Delta-Launcher#h_246062515901517253153047
Helpful note: The logindata.json file generates and deletes when the Delta Launcher is open.
This also helps to keep login information updated. Just in case, fully close the Launcher and
make sure the file is definitely removed from (install drive)\Program Files\Roberts Space
Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE.
- If the launch button on the game's launcher is missing (ie, not in the game's main menu)
- - Ensure you have a Game Package which includes ‘Star Citizen Digital Download’
- - a standalone ship isn’t good enough, you need a game package for the ‘Install’ and/or
‘Launch’ buttons to display- Check if anything display in this list
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/pledges?page=1&product-
type=game_package
- Otherwise:
- - Close all instances of launcher (right click taskbar icon > click close) [check no
additional ones are running with task manager, they can be cheeky]
- - Run launcher as administrator (right click icon, click 'run as administrator')
- - Log out of launcher and back in
- - Refresh the launcher: Press this key combination all together: CTRL +ALT + SHIFT +
R - Otherwise ensure your firewall has the launcher whitelisted
- - Otherwise try restarting the PC or leave the launcher running for about 1 hour
- - Check windows update for stalled updates
- - Official post from CIG Here:
<https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/51473/thread/no-
install-button-no-live-ptu-no-nothing/860961>
- If you updated the launcher version 1.1.1 to the new version 1.2 through the launcher (by
running the launcher then clicking the 'update launcher' button instead of downloading off the
website), try downloading it directly from the website and installing it
- Check you haven't got multiple instances of the launcher running (check task manager)
- Try just rebooting your PC (helps with the above)
- Make sure RSI Launcher.exe has valid firewall allowance
- Ensure you're on a network that allows torrenting / p2p downloads for example college
campus or maybe a library or work network may not allow this - some ISPs apparently don't
either
- Make sure your firewalls / antivirus aren’t blocking RSI Launcher.exe, RSI PTU Launcher.exe
or StarCitizen.exe
- Ensure you have enough free space on the drive to install it
- Install drive must be NTFS file system, not exFAT. SSD storage is highly recommended. If
you are using an external USB drive please let us know
1. Run launcher as administrator (Right click > run as administrator)
2. Try resetting the launcher by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R in the launcher window and
press OK
3. In Launcher SETTINGS page, decrease "Concurrent downloads" to 5 or 10. Decrease "speed
limit" to the mid range of your actual speed. For example for 50mbit down, try 2-3MB/s.
4. Click 'settings' then click 'verify'
There's also a helpful log to inspect for issues located here %appdata%\rsilauncher\log.log
From here you have two options. You can either delete (or rename to keep as backup) your
data.p4k folder then try the download again or try and get a data.p4k file from a trusted friend
(either physically copy from USB or have them share it online for you to download)
- Disable any possible **background apps** like Windows game bar, MSI
Afterburner/overclocking tools/overlays etc. For example Razer Tartarus software, teamviewer,
discord, corsair apps, ASUS Sonic Suite, Steam, Nvidia overlays, geforce instant replay, xbox
game bar, ASUS Sonic, Comodo Firewall (overrides windows defender and doesn’t let SC run
at all), Process Lasso - Disable them, do not let it load in the background first, disable and
restart the PC. They can mess things up.
- Ensure your **audio is enabled** with a device plugged in (yes seriously)
- Have you tried **restarting** your computer?
- Minimum **system specs**: Quad core CPU, GPU with 2GB+ vRAM (4gb vram
recommended), 16GB RAM, plus Windows 7,8 or 10 (64 bit), SSD strongly recommended -
make sure you conform to these - if you have 8gb ram that may cause issues
c
- Ensure **.NET framework** are up to date (you need 3.5 *and* at least 4.5) - you can check
here for what versions you have (folder names) [ C:\Windows\Microsoft .NET\Framework64 ]
- Make sure your **firewalls / antivirus** aren’t blocking RSI Launcher.exe or StarCitizen.exe
- If you have it, delete the **USER folder** (usually at C:\Program Files\Roberts Space
Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE\USER) [StarCitzenPTU for PTU]
- Run RSILauncher as **administrator**, then click ‘settings’ and then ‘verify’
- If you have a local install of **NodeJS**, ensure that you have NOT declared the following
environmental variable or it will cause a launcher crash:
environment variable node_env="development”
--
If you have it, delete the BIN64 folder - (usually at \Roberts Space
Industries\StarCitizen\Live\Bin64 folder) then run launcher as admin, click ‘settings’ then click
VERIFY button before you click launch
--
Make sure you have the windows service packs installed, seriously make sure those are
installed - Windows 7 needs to be build 7601. AND be a Legal Copy.
--
Check Windows logs - [windows key + r] then type “event viewer”; then look in windows logs
-> applications logs
Sort by time/date and look for events around the time of your issue.
--
To verify the versions of .Net that are installed look here (you need 3.5 and at least 4.5)
C:\Windows\Microsoft .NET\Framework64
Check you’re using the most recent launcher version, check bottom right of the launcher window
(Current LIVE patcher is ‘Delta Patcher v1.2’). Also ensure you have enough disk space
available. Double check the library directory is correct (Settings -> Library folder) it should point
to the folder that contains the StarCitizen folder. Default is “C:\Program Files\Roberts Space
Industries\” then:

https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018260993-Game-version-won-
t-update-in-RSI-Launcher
Check you haven't got multiple launchers running, clear the cache or try modifying your
download settings (steps to all in the below link)
https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000081507
- Try a different drive, not just a partition (preferably a fast SSD/M.2 Drive). The Library name can be
custom (i.e. D:\Games\SC\) but some have better luck with 'Roberts Space Industries'.
- Possible missing or corrupted .dll files. Try to launch StarCitizen\Live\Bin64\StarCitizen.exe and it may
tell you what is missing or corrupted. -Careful downloading dll files from the web; stick to Microsoft
resources! https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-msvcp140-dll-is-missing/
- Running StarCitizen this way with launcher closed, results in a normal Crash Handler error in 3.1
IC report: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/community/issue-council/star-citizen-alpha-
3/STARC-70734-Failed_to_Decompress_File__Game_Start_Error
- To refresh the launcher, Press this key combination all together: CTRL +ALT + SHIFT + R
- Otherwise enable Aero (windows transparency) in Windows Theme settings. - Also click Start
and type Systempropertiesadvanced [no spaces!] in the Search Bar. Press enter, then go to
Performance Settings - Visual effects; ensure Desktop Composition and/or “Use Visual Styles
on Windows and Buttons” options are ON Checked and Applied.
- Disable Aero theme. If it’s already disabled, try enabling it. If you can not find Aero or your
theme does not have it then choose “Windows 7 theme”; some people report that placing a
different window (like file explorer) above the launcher will reveal the launcher.
Delta patcher crashes when trying to launch the game
Change program compatibility to Windows 8
- Otherwise try other compatibility modes
- Otherwise run as administrator
- Check SETTINGS>>Library folder, Library is one above StarCitizen. Try just re-setting it.
The patcher appears to go slower as it gets to the end... this is because it orders the files it
downloads from largest to smallest. Starting and ending a file transfer takes time. When the file
is massive then you don't notice it but when the patcher is downloading miniscule files the
throughput will crawl to a halt because the patcher is spending substantially more time
(comparatively) opening and closing the downloads as it is actually downloading it.. so towards
the end keep an eye on the number of files left, not the MB/sec throughput.
2. If you're still getting the 'confirm your account is not a bot' error:
Completely close your launchers (make sure they're not running in the system tray or task
manager)
Open a private browsing window to log in: Firefox: CTRL+SHIFT+P / Chrome: CTRL+SHIFT+N.
Login to one of the below sites -
If the google recaptcha challenge does not appear, make sure you are on the correct website.
Otherwise try a different browser and/or disable your browser extensions.
Try the launcher again - If you’re accessing PTU, make sure you use the special PTU password
that was emailed to you, not your regular password.
Try to wait a couple of minutes between every attempt or two in case the system is just
overloaded.
If the login still does not work after that, read the red error message carefully. If it still says the
Bot part:
1. in the launcher hit CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R to reset the launcher settings, or delete the contents
of %appdata%\rsilauncher\ (PTU: %appdata%\rsiptulauncher\) while the launcher is closed.
2. Restart your computer.
3. if you have a 2-factor authentication backup code, use that to login to the launcher
4. If not, disable and re-enable your 2-factor authentication here and re-enable it:
<https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/security>
5. Try again
People have tried a variety of things to fix this. Some have reported fixes by deleting game files
(especially data.p4k file) and downloading again but it only works if they lower the aggressive
connection speed settings in the launcher (settings -> lower concurrent downloads to about 15
or so, and download speed limit to to the mid range of your actual speed. For example for
50mbit down, try using 2-3MB/s.
Others have repaired this by copying over their data.p4k from their LIVE or PTU folder.
-- In game issues --
Infinite loading screen after joining Stanton / Universe mode
- Keep waiting, or try again later. It may take 10+ minutes depending on your hardware. Placing
Star Citizen on an SSD and ensuring you meet minimum system requirements including 16GB
RAM will help improve load times.
- You can try selecting a different game server before pressing the ‘Visit Location’ button. Try
EU, US, AUS for example (top right). It's usually set to 'BEST'.
- You can check if you’re frozen/stuck on the loading screen by opening the console (default
is the ~ key ) - check for anything that says ‘disconnected’. If it says ‘connected’ that means
you’re still loading. Any ‘keep alive’ messages are also a good sign.
- You can open the console ( ~ key) and type r_displayinfo 3 into the console (then press enter)
to show the FPS, frame time in MS and other details in an overlay to help show you are not
frozen.
-If you have a setup where your router and modem are separate devices, you can temporarily
try bypassing the router to check and see if that's the problem. (from CIG, more info below)
Bearded(CIG) advised:
If you're getting stuck on a black screen when loading into the Stanton system, this typically
happens when something is blocking the game client from connecting with our game servers. I
know there are some kinds of routers that really don't like our game server so if you have a
setup where your router and modem are separate devices, you can temporarily try bypassing
the router to check and see if that's the problem. (This is terrible security practice, so don't leave
it that way.)

“It is strongly recommended that players delete their USER folder for the Public client after
patching, particularly if you start encountering any odd character graphical issues or crash on
loading. The USER folder can be found (in default installations) at C:\Program Files\Roberts
Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE." https://robertsspaceindustries.com/patch-notes
Crashes on launch with G-sync : Other than using Borderless Windowed mode (Fullscreen
Window), disabling V-Sync in Graphics Options should avoid the issue. cvar r_Vsync = 0 or turn
off Gsync, then launch game and disable VSync in Graphics Options. Or use NVidia Control
Panel profile settings.
Disconnect Codes: If the game comes up but shows you a box with some number this is
probably a disconnect code. List of those codes and resolutions are here:

Low FPS
Make sure you meet minimum specifications including 16GB RAM. You may need to close as
many background apps as you can to free up extra RAM. Having Star Citizen on an SSD is
highly recommended.
Netcode is still in development, performance has generally increased with each major build as
they optimize more each quarter.
If you’re using a laptop (especially with nvidia drivers) you may need to force your laptop to use
the dedicated graphics card instead of the integrated CPU graphics. More info at this section.
- Otherwise Set Cl_fov = value in a USER.cfg but the FOV slider will act strangely if you do this,
for example, add this to the user.cfg file ```cl_fov = 100``` and change the figure to suit
If the Stanton button is not showing at all, check you have a game package here:

(ships with SCU) BEFORE calling your ship, check the cargo capacity. If it says '0' then back
out of the ASOP and then check after a couple of seconds. Try a couple of times until you see
proper cargo capacity then Retrieve. If it always says '0' then you'll have to file a Claim.
(ships without SCU) BEFORE calling your ship, check in the mobiGlas Vehicle Manager App
(VMA). If you can not view the model of the ship or if the model is missing components, close
mobiGlas and check again after a couple seconds. If it always fails to load then file an insurance
claim.
To set up:
1. Open in game menu, select 'comms settings' top right
2. Set 'Enable FOIP' to Yes
3. Press 'calibrate' - it should open a new window with your web camera's view
4. Move closer to the camera until orange dots appear on your face
5. Leave calibration window open and alt-tab back to Star Citizen
- After step 2, you can open console ~ to check which device is being used
- FOIP hotkeys "7" for look back camera and "8" for quick calibrate.
- If your in game character's eyes are too wide open, stare at your camera with you IRL eyes
open as wide as possible then press 'calibrate' from step 3. You can adjust your IRL eyelids
lower and calibrate to your liking
- If your camera does not have a controller (like microsoft live cam), you may need to use
<www.manycam.com>
- If the camera is not displaying, try disabling manycam, obs, virtualcam or similar software. You
may need to disable any virtual devices like virtual OBS cameras or facerig from device
manager
- This is only the very first implementation of FOIP, it should improve over time with more
calibration settings and features to come
- `Numpad /` = Selfie cam, `Numpad *` = Calibrate face tracking, `Numpad -` = Toggle head
tracking
- Can you see orange dots appear on your face? If not, you may need to move the camera
close to your face, or move your face closer.
- Placing the camera underneath your computer monitor seems to offer better tracking.
The microphone is usually muted by default so you'll have to unmute it in the Comms app in
your mobiglass. Press F11 and select the channel you want to enable (like Global), then press
the microphone icon up the top (if it shows).
Sometimes VOIP only works in a party, sometimes it works outside of party also depending on
the patch and current bugs.
Make sure the correct microphone is set as default in your windows settings before launching
the game since there's no way to set devices for VOIP yet.
When you enable VOIP in a Channel, Windows 10 "App volume and device preferences" panel
should show a new, second entry for StarCitizen.exe set to your communications device.

Laptops (mostly nvidia ones) don’t recognise Star Citizen as being a game - it thinks it’s a
normal application. You need to force your laptop to use the dedicated Graphics card instead of
the CPU for graphics.
1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel by right-clicking the desktop. If it’s not there, navigate to
C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client\ and run **nvcplui.exe**
2. Click "Manage 3D Settings" at the left.
3. Click the "Program Settings" tab.
4. Click the **Add** button next to the drop-down list.
5. Click **Browse**. A Folder view should open.
6. Navigate to (default) Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\Live\Bin64
7. Select StarCitizen.exe and click **Open**; it should now be selected in the dropdown.
8. If you have made changes to StarCitizen program settings you will see a Restore button.
Clicking Restore will reset the program settings to Global rules.
9. If you have the **Preferred graphics processor** option, select "High-performance
NVIDIA Processor" or your GPU name in the list.
10. Click **Apply**.
At step 7 If you did not install the game to C:\ drive then type the Drive Letter into
Filename. i.e. type E: and press enter to select that drive.
Try claiming the ship on insurance, otherwise change server region and claim it there. If it still
doesn’t work, go into the hangar module and interact with the blue/green dots on the floor to
place your ship there. Otherwise, get a friend or random player to fly you to Levski and claim the
ship there.
Insight from CIG developer about a past instance of this sort of bug:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/50259/thread/invisible-
character/891631
Lots of people have reported this bug recently, but @ Omni made the following discovery, and if
anyone is able to narrow it down further we’ll appreciate a heads up:
Not sure which fixed it but it's one of these three things:
1. Powering the ship off and on a couple times
2. Firing the mining laser while not in mining mode
3. Firing the main weapons while not in mining mode
HUD missing from ship and character, even after game restart (3.3+)
If it is just the ship then file a Claim to replace it by insurance. Otherwise, try removing your
helmet and then replacing it. If this does not work, re-create your character appearance from the
Main Menu.
Stuck sprinting
Can happen after carrying a box or tapping Sprint while interacting with something. Try tapping
"F" or your interaction key. Hold Sprint key for just a second or two while moving to unstick it.
Otherwise change "sprint toggle" in Options>Game Settings, tap Sprint in game then set the
option back to your preference. Mouse wheel adjusts default movement speed from walk up to a
run.
If on PTU: You can recopy your account to PTU if you’re on PTU, or if you’re on LIVE you will
need to submit a ticket to customer support to have your account reset (this will reset your
aUEC and anything else also).
Explicit steps:
1. Go to a weapons shop, inspect a weapon so you're holding it.
2. Back out of 'inspect' mode.- Your box may reposition or hands may be in front as if holding an
invisible box. If not, re-try step 1 with a different weapon after a few seconds.
3. After you inspect a weapon and are then holding an invisible box, open and close your
mobiGlas.
4. Otherwise look for a prompt to "Pick Up", use it. Try Clicking or try Interaction Mode as if
normally placing an item.
5. If you successfully put down the box, or seem to but are stuck moving slowly or still glitched,
try an /emote like /wave, open or mobiGlas, or kill yourself/force respawn.
Stuck on a ladder
Try spamming the jump key, otherwise spam the movement keys. Try not to move while the
ladder animation is operating to prevent getting stuck.
Check this article for updates, contribute to the Issue Council and submit a support Ticket if it
keeps you from playing the game. https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-
us/articles/360012619613
After you enter Quantum Travel go into your Power MFD, go to Items, scroll down to your
Quantum Drive (it will have a strange name, if you don't know its name use your Ship
Configuration in MobiGlass to check it). Then move your quantum travel item to its max power
marker. Max power is shown as a thin vertical line. Lower the power down to where the filled
power usage line is currently at while in QT after entering QT it will be low in the settings bar.
You will now no longer overheat the drive during those long jumps... just remember to restore it
to full power setting prior to your next QT or Spooling will take ages.
Possibly caused by desync. Try not to use Mobiglass near objects/walls if possible. Don’t keep
spamming F1 to open or close the Mobiglass. Be patient and it will open or close eventually.
Press it 1 time then wait, not multiple times. When closing the mobiglass, click the X on the top
right instead of pressing F1 can work sometimes. Otherwise some people report using an emote
can get you out of mobiglass. Otherwise you may have to respawn via suicide (left alt +
backspace) or rejoin server.
1. Get the Pro Tem Bounty Contract mission if it appears in your Mobiglas
2. But don’t go to the marker yet
3. Instead, go to Levski and talk to the mission giver in the bar
Note: He will only talk to you if you have the Pro Tem Bounty Contract mission or already
finished it.
Now, you can see the bounty ship flying around the marker.
Note: I don’t know if this works when you already went to the Pro Tem marker but to be sure, do
this when you just logged in or planning to get the mission.

1. Make sure you have game launcher version 1.2.1 (check bottom right). Otherwise you can
install it here:
- Install the new launcher from https://install.robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/RSI-Setup-
1.2.1.exe
- Installing this will automatically update your 1.1.1 launcher to the new 1.2.1 version that you
can use to play on both LIVE and PTU.
- No need to use the old PTU launcher.
2. Fully close all launchers (double check in task manager or restart pc) - this is to prevent Error
150006
3. Copy your account to PTU servers: Using the next link, click 'public test universe' on the left
(if it's deactivated you don't have access yet, check FAQ at end of this message)
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/settings
4. Click 'copy account to PTU'
5. Then wait for the email (may take a while, usually it's quick) which contains your special PTU
password and instructions. Check spam folder. If using hotmail, check filter settings. If you have
not received it after 1 hour or so, try step 4 and 5 again.
6. Once you have copied your account to the PTU, login to the 1.2.0 launcher using your normal
account's secret login ID and password (your usual credentials) that you would use for Live. Do
not use the PTU password for the launcher, that password is for the ptu website.
7. After logging into the launcher, click on the dropdown button on the top left under the Star
Citizen logo that says LIVE, and change this to PTU.
8. Click Install to download. When it's complete you can click Launch Game.
Console commands
If using these in a USER.cfg, include the (=) equals sign
FPS:
r_displayinfo 1
FOV:
cl_fov=90
1. Using chat window (not console) you can type /partyinvite <playername>
2. Otherwise you can use F11 to add a friend as a contact then right click their name and
click ‘send party invite’. Both players must add each other for friends list to work (using
F11 window), often you both need to completely exit the game and rejoin for it to work
properly.
3. When one person is in a server, they can press F11 friends list and click button down
the bottom ‘send instance invite’ to all party members to accept
4. Otherwise friends can go through main menu: Click universe > Stanton > ‘join friends’
button (ensure you’re using the same server region in the dropdown box at the top
(AUS, EU, US)
5. You can also party with a person in an instance by using (F) Interaction Mode and
clicking on their face directly.
Press [ to accept and ] to reject party invites (US Keyboard). You can change these keys
in Options>Keybindings>Advanced Controls Customization>Social - Invites
If your friend is in the Universe, and you’re in main menus without having each other on your
friends list, you can type into chat
/addcontact <playername>
Main menu -> Contact list -> Add button -> Input handle
but often you both need to restart the game afterwards for it to work
You can also do it on the RSI website (account button top right)
Both must add each other for it to work

Request landing
Landing: Landing now takes place through an Air Traffic Control (ATC) system. When close to a
landing location, request a landing by opening your MobiGlas (F1 key) then navigating to your
"Comms" menu (F11 hotkey) (note: this is incorrectly displayed as a ship icon) and then pushing
the hail button (wifi symbol). Wait a moment, and ATC should assign you a landing location.
Note, you need to request take off to leave Levski (trigger opening of bay doors).
Stuck at Arccorp
Ship getting stored quickly, or spawning on the wrong pad workaround:
Stand at ship terminal -> Request ship -> Stay at terminal -> After the ship spawned, claim it on
insurance using the terminal -> Wait out the claim timer or pay expedite fee -> Request ship
again.
The speed limiter (mousewheel to adjust) is a preset velocity that is applied to all strafe
directions and is controlled independently of ship motion. Core ship movement is now controlled
via "strafe" in the desired vectors. Additionally, there is a "cruise control" (C key) toggle that
activates automatic thrust forward for longer distance travel.
This Cruise mode sets your velocity to match the speed limiter. You could think of this
combination like the classic "throttle" with mouse+keyboard.
Patchnotes for 3.5 should be enlightening https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link//17032-
Star-Citizen-Alpha-350
Essentially tap "C" and then use mouse wheel as you would normally have used W and S.
Decoupled mode "V" may be good to get used to as well. Called so because it decouples your
movement from your facing direction and you can drift whichever way you please. (Thanks to
helper Songremains for this)
Options > Keybindings (top right) > Advanced controls customization (bottom left) > control
profiles (bottom right) > Scroll down and click ‘Keyboard advanced’ > Click on the blue rectangle
on the right, next to Keyboard > Click keyboard > Click ‘load’
Keybinding profiles can be imported and exported via the console. Devices can also be re-
ordered with console commands (per link below). Importing this way can work around certain
issues such as keybinds failing to apply, or devices failing to register in the list.
If the list is cut off and you can’t see your device, click in the list. Then use PgDown key to
scroll. Or use the console to import (see link below).
pp_rebindkeys mykeys
This imports the profile named 'mykeys.xml' - specifying the entire path is optional
While wearing a helmet, [F12] toggles visor chat. [Enter] for chat input and [Tab] to switch
between channels. [Tab] once the first time to select Global. Sometimes you have to toggle F12
or re-set a channel in Comms (when entering/leaving ship, respawning, changing gear etc.)
If a chat-log is empty in Commlink, reselect the channel on the left. Switch to another mobi tab
and back to Commlink. If it's still empty, switch back and forth from another channel. To create a
new channel, click the Plus (+) at the top of channel list to choose a title.
● - The Bell sets which channels appear in Visor-chat. (starts 'on' even when it's not)
● - The square will be to choose the color of the channel text.
● - The camera, microphone and speaker icons will toggle Foip, Voip microphone and
playback for the channel. When set to play voice comms, speaker will be lit in the
channel list.
● - You can rename your own channel by selecting it, then clicking its Title in the header.
● - If you are in a seat, visor chat may not show if you have Comms on an MFD. Set any
comms screen to a different menu in cockpit.
● - All of these features are WIP and may not be working/work strangely at any time
Your spawn location can normally be set in the Universe by contacting the local ATC in
mobiGlas commLink (F11) or an MFD and landing properly on your assigned pad. ATC should
acknowledge the landing. (Request landing) https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-
us/articles/360020925254-How-to-land-your-ship
This may not always work as expected and you could have issues preventing you from logging
back in where you'd like.
To help ensure your spawn point is set:
- - Once you land, wait for audio and/or visual acknowledgement from the ATC contact.
- - If you don't get acknowledgement try taking off briefly and then landing again. Request
a new pad if necessary.
- - Don't forget to put your Landing gear down (tap N).
- - Try not to bounce. Shut down engines (i on keyboard) just above the pad or as you
touch down so you don't bounce off.
- - You can go decoupled (V) to drift slowly in or limit your speed (mousewheel down) to
help keep your approach smooth.
- - Autoland is available by holding down the (N) key when you are within the highlighted
pad area.
- - Wait a few minutes after landing before you exit the instance or before you try for a
respawn.
- - Wait for your ship to be Stored at the new location, or:
- - Go to the local ASOP terminals and Retrieve another ship if you have one.
- - If you're not carrying important items like a package and don't have a personal weapon
drawn, you can try forcing respawn (hold Backspace) in the zone to wake up in your
hab.
- - Try getting your ship Stored by blocking an active flight lane (hover over unassigned
pads), warning, may include risk of death and minor crimstat
- - If you are bringing passengers to a new landing zone and you ALL want to be -homed-
at that zone... then each has to go to a terminal, spawn a ship or vehicle. Fly or drive out
and then request landing then land. For vehicles, drive off enough to then request pad. It
is the act of Landing "successfully" that Homes you
Landing in 3.5 at Area18 on ArcCorp planet
Currently Area18 is the only built-out Landing Zone on ArcCorp:
https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020925254
- *bug:* Currently, Comms MFD will not update ATC contacts when entering or leaving an area
so switch MFD panels or use (F11) mobiGlas commlink once in range (2 - 5Km roughly).
- You may have to be quite close to see the wrench symbol inside a circle which indicates your
assigned landing spot after contacting ATC via commlink.
- Some hangars are entered from the side, not the top. The "No-fly zone" marked with the red
mesh overlay is quite close to pads and hangar entries so proceed with caution.
- We can also land without clearance on some rooftops of tall buildings around the city but these
don't give access to the Area18 trams or common areas, hab assignments or repair/refuel
services.
'W' to get out of bed after spawn, otherwise try using ‘H’
'S' or swing your mouse to the corner of the screen to leave the ship request terminal
Fly a ship for at least 1 min before trying to spawn a second ship
If you get stuck in EVA or standing, perform a quick /emote in chat. Try /point. If you get
stuck in a 'held' emote like /salute or sit, do a quick emote like /point or /smell. Don't emote from
chairs or seats or you might get stuck.
If something suddenly stops working, don't spam actions. Try waiting a couple seconds
between actions in case the server is going crazy. Try doing the same thing in different ways
(hotkeys vs. different menu or MFD).

*Automatically manage:* Automatic is fine for general use, but a large fixed value may benefit
most systems with minimal RAM and/or no SSD. If your Windows drive C: is not an SSD you
may wish to set a pagefile manually. If you are troubleshooting out_of_sysmem or unexplained
crashes, make sure that you have plenty of free space on the managed drives. To set pagefile
manually, uncheck this.
*Manual:* Select a drive. Pagefile.sys is best put on an SSD (no SSD? Use your fastest HDD
without the game on it). Click the drive in the list and check 'Custom size'. Enter the Initial and
Maximum sizes in MB. For example 16384 - to 16384 for a 16GB pagefile (16 x 1024MB). For
each drive in the list you make changes to, click **Set** below. Set unneeded drives to 'None'.
Click **OK**; Click **OK** again in the System Properties window. Restart your computer if
prompted.

Troubleshooting tips
1. Try switching back and forth between the buy and sell tabs
2. Try closing the terminal and re-opening it again. You may need to try multiple times.
3. If things continue to not work, try a different server, then try a different ship if possible
4. There are issues when selling large quantities of goods. First, try to sell everything at
once. If you get ‘undefined’ error, try selling less and less SCU until a transaction
processes properly. Then close the terminal and wait 60 seconds before trying another
sell of approximately the same amount. You may need to even sell in 1 SCU quantities.
5. Occasionally servers will not be operating normally. This can mean nothing is buyable or
sellable no matter what location you are at. If this happens, fly to Port Olisar (preferred),
Lorville or Levski and logout then log back in to try and get a new server. You can switch
server regions to guarantee a new server, or join on a friend in a different server.

Borderless fullscreen
- Add this to the user.cfg file (good for troubleshooting) - optional to remove motion blur
setting at the end
By default this file does not exist, so you have to create it manually. Using notepad, paste the
below and save as user.cfg (**Save as type: All files** so as to not accidentally save it as
“user.cfg.txt”) into INSTALL FOLDER\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE
(swap the r_Width and r_Height values to your desired resolution)
```Con_Restricted = 0
r_FullscreenWindow = 1
r_Width = 1920
r_Height = 1080
r_Fullscreen = 0
r_MotionBlur = 0
r_Vsync = 0```
Then don't upgrade it (unless you want a $5 upgrade to the Aurora LN, which is worthwhile)
You could buy the Mustang Alpha package instead of the Aurora MR package because the
Mustang is worth $5 more in the upgrade interface and thus you can upgrade to the Aurora LN
(or any other ship) for $5 less. You don’t have to purchase anything other than a game package,
as any ships you can purchase for real $ can be earned in game using in game credits, once
they implement the mechanics for it.
REC is earned playing Arena Commander public multiplayer games. REC is best farmed doing
Ship exchanging
Go here, find item in the list, click triangle to the right of it, then click 'exchange for store credits'
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/pledges
Types of currency
There are three types of currency in Star Citizen right now (besides store credit):
1. aUEC = alpha credits used for testing only in the preview of the Persistent Universe
(mini-PU / Crusader). They are just for testing the economy and get reset frequently.
Earned ingame by completing missions. Press F1 in Universe mode then click the green
box to access missions. Doesn’t show up on your RSI account page.
2. REC = rental credits for renting ships and weapons for Arena Commander. Earned by
playing multiplayer modes in Arena Commander or by becoming a subscriber. Spent
ingame, as the website store is now discontinued.
3. UEC = ingame currency for the final game. The UEC that comes with your starter
packages is not issued until full release. Does get converted to aUEC for alpha testing.
If you have already paid with paypal but the payment status hasn’t changed:
1. Delete browser cookies and refresh RSI payment page to check status
TO DO LIST:
Features:
- DONE - Printer friendly 3.0 keybindings map (like the one for) 2.6.3
Solutions to issues:
- Invisible character/avatar in game, or sometimes you’re a purple blob (needs ticket to CIG)
“Hello. I've been away and was trying out the 3.0 launcher but keep running into a
javascript error: SyntaxError: Unexpected token. I have uninstalled, deleted the user directories,
installed to different drives, even gone as far as rebooting after uninstalling and still the same
issue. Has anyone heard of a solution for this as I would like to get back in. Thanks for any
help.”
Solutions to Errors:
- Error 40000
- Error 14004
- Error: Couldn't find user information. Crashhandler will exit
- Error: “Launch game error Error: Command failed”: C:\Program Files\Roberts Space
Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE\Bin64\StarCitizen.exe -UseNewPak
Possible to add:
(From Omni)
But keep in mind those crashes don't usually give that memory error, so the first fix is probably
more relevant
Delete your StarCitizen folder and rename your StarCitizenPTU folder to StarCitizen
then delete the USER folder inside the LIVE folder in StarCitizen
then use regular launcher, click settings then click 'verify'
default location
C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries
- You can open the console ( ~ key) and type r_displayinfo 3 into the console (then press enter)
to show the FPS, frame time in MS and other details in an overlay to help show you are not
frozen.
