Background
The LTE network at the initial phase covers only hotspots and is limited
in continuous coverage. When subscribers who are on active calls move
from LTE to 2G/3G networks, ongoing calls may be interrupted.

Enhanced single radio voice call continuity (eSRVCC) enables

subscribers to continue their ongoing calls when they move from an LTE
network to a 2G/3G network.

eSRVCC VS SRVCC

SRVCC
Bearers must be re-established between two call parties when an SRVCC
handover completes, which increases the call delay.

eSRVCC
When an eSRVCC handover completes, only bearers between UE-A
and the ATGW are re-established. Bearers between UE-B and the
ATGW remain unchanged. This processing mechanism reduces the call
delay.

Mid-call

A calling or called party experiences

an LTE-to-2G/3G handover while a
Alerting called party is in the alerting state.
