Choice Board

This document outlines a project for students to demonstrate their knowledge of equations and inequalities. Students will choose from a choice board to create a presentation using tools like Jamboard, Google Sites, Piktochart, or Desmos to showcase what they learned about solving linear equations, dimensional analysis, proportions, inequalities, and absolute value equations. The project aligns with math and technology standards and will serve as a final summative assessment for the unit.

The purpose of this project is to assess students’ knowledge on the Equations and
Inequalities unit. Students will develop this project after getting through all five topics in
the unit: solving linear equations on both sides, dimensional analysis, proportions,
solving one-variable inequalities, and solving absolute value equations. This project will
allow students with different learning styles to effectively demonstrate the skills and
knowledge they acquired throughout the lessons and other activities in the unit. This
project will come after all lessons and quizzes, it will serve as the final summative
assessment. Students may work individually or in pairs to complete this project.
Students will only need their school-issues Chromebooks with data or Wi-Fi. The choice
board can also be used as a summative assessment for the end of the semester. It can
be used to have students showcase their favorite units throughout the semester, such
as a digital portfolio.

This project will demonstrate if students meet the content-standards along with student
technology standards. This project will also demonstrate if English learning students
meet California English Language Development standards.

The following ISTE student standards will be covered:

6a. I choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of
their creation or communication.
6b. I create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new
creations.
6c. I communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating/using digital objects
such as visualizations, models or simulations.
6d. I publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for my
intended audiences.

Content Standards:
A-CED.A.1
The student creates one variable equations arising
from linear, quadratic, simple rational, and
exponential functions in one variable.

A-CED.A.2
The student graphs equations or inequalities on coordinate axes with labels and scales
to represent the solution to a contextual problem.

A-REI.B.3
The student solves linear equations and inequalities in one variable with numeric
coefficients.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSN.Q.A.1
Use units as a way to understand problems and to guide the solution of multi-step
problems; choose and interpret units consistently in formulas; choose and interpret
the scale and the origin in graphs and data displays.
Learning Objective:
Students will present their knowledge and skills of the 5 topics in the unit of equations
and inequalities by using multimedia to create a display of their learning.

Directions:
Read through the following project choices on the choice board below. You will create a
project to show your understanding of the unit through one of these options. It is up to
you on how to present the information, you will need to include the following topics:

Slope-intercept form, Point-slope form, Standard form, and Parallel/Perpendicular Lines.

*Make sure to read through the rubrics below to see how you will be graded.*
