Mro 2020

The document discusses MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) of aircraft. It outlines the key activities involved in aircraft MRO, including inspection, disassembly, repairing various aircraft components, implementing service bulletins, reassembly, and delivery. It notes that each MRO activity requires managing materials, human resources, tools, and documents. It then introduces the concepts of Lean Six Sigma and how they can be applied to aircraft MRO. Lean focuses on reducing waste and non-value added work to produce high quality products faster and at lower cost. Six Sigma uses data-driven, statistical methods to identify and solve problems and improve performance. Finally, it mentions that defects will be analyzed using fishbone diagrams

1-Introduction
MRO stands for
maintenance, repair and overhaul.
Aviation History
Principal airframe units.
Flight control and stability
Internal structure
• Aircraft acceptance with ground functional test and inspection to confirm
the en-factory technical status and aircraft condition, which shall comply
with aircraft overhaul requirement
• Paint removal/ Aircraft and equipment disassembly
• Remove/test/repair/overhaul airborne finished products
• Cleaning of airframe structure
• Repair airframe structure, repair parts and components of fuselage,
empennage and airframe structure.
• Repair of aircraft electric harness of the whole aircraft,
• replace windshield Plexiglas by new one.
• Modify/overhaul the canopy from rigid connection to flexible connection.
• Implement the required service bulletins.
• Check and repair the pylons, gun pod and droop tanks on conditions;
• Replacement of airframe systematic components and accessories.
• Repair and replacement of components and accessories on-condition
• Aircraft final assembly, debugging and adjustment
• Flight test and whole-aircraft painting
• Delivery of aircraft
For each activity we must manage
materials, human resource, tools ,documents
needed to execute this activity
Lean Six Sigma in aircraft MRO
 “Lean ” is a Japanese methodology that
focuses on producing high quality products
FASTER, better and at lowest cost.

 Lean is about reducing steps and waste (scrap,

rework,) focusing on the Value Add work what the
customer is paying for

 The goal is that “you don’t work harder, but rather

smarter”
