Risk Assessment: Designated Areas Campus, Classroom and Laboratory

The document discusses the importance of conducting risk assessments for designated areas like campuses, classrooms, and laboratories. It provides examples of potential hazards like physical, chemical, fire, and electrical risks. Risk assessments help identify specific hazards, vulnerable individuals, and appropriate safety measures. Periodic assessments are also needed to ensure existing controls remain adequate or new risks require additional safeguards. An example risk assessment form is included that lists potential hazards, assigned risk levels, existing and needed controls, and responsibilities for addressing issues.

Designated areas; Campus, Classroom and Laboratory

Risk assessments are critical for preventing workplace accidents, reducing injuries, and sometimes saving lives. A risk
assessment helps to raise adequate awareness of specific risks and potential threats among both employees and managers by
identifying specific hazards and potential threats. Furthermore, risk assessments can assist managers in identifying who is most
vulnerable and how to adopt appropriate safeguards. Even if such safeguards are already in place, periodic risk assessments are
necessary to determine if they are adequate or whether new ones must be developed to replace them.
