Classroom teachers has the overall responsibility for pupils’ teaching and

The result of the Pre-Test in Phil-IRI English/ Filipino in Grade 4 was there are

pupils in both in Filipino and English and fall in frustration in reading profile per
passage. This is evident in the result of the Phil-IRI Test English and Filipino. As a
trend in the learning process, this could affect the performance of pupils in their
academic subjects.

PTA (Parents-Teachers Teaching-Reading Assistance) READING PROGRAM


aims the following Objectives:

a. Improve the reading abilities of 12 independent, instructional, and pupils under


frustration level in English and Filipino thru online flatforms and home
visitation, 30 minutes from Monday to Friday at 4:30-5:00 pm in the afternoon
every after their modular schedules following the basic health protocols.
b. Develop slow readers to emerging readers specifically, develop phonetic

awareness, strategies of word recognition, oral fluency, and ability to read and
write independently.
c. Maximize the reading time of all pupils.
d. Put into practice a habit in reading.
e. Facilitate the teaching-learning process of the pupils at home at their own
reading levels thru the parent-tutors.

Project Components
PTA (Parents-Teachers Teaching-Reading Assistance) READING
PROGRAM initiate their parents or any of the household members as tutor who can
read in both English and Filipino with class adviser’s assistance via home visiting and
online monitoring in reading. The PTA (Parents-Teachers Teaching-Reading
Assistance) READING PROGRAM included in the class program and strategically to
consumed to initiate the reading intervention to frustration levels. The program
comprises of 30 minutes in the afternoon from February to April 2021. The program
will be done after their modular schedule hours everyday 4:30 to 5:00 pm, with the
classroom teacher who supervised the reading activity. The printing materials will be
taken from the materials in printing of SLMs and LASs.

This Reading Program has been developed to help these pupils by applying
evidence-based approaches to teaching reading with the tools (e.g. Learning to read
with phonemic awareness, phonic, word recognition, reading to learn (vocabulary
development, fluency, comprehension. Reading stories and writing connections and
YouTube videos to model practices and passages for oral reading practice and
monitoring.) It encompasses all pupils with reading difficulties, including those who
have specific learning difficulties as well as those who have made generally poor
progress in reading and may or may not have additional general learning difficulties.
While the full range of literacy involves more than just reading, the focus is particularly
on reading skills: the ability to decode and understand text.

Project This reading program will be implemented in Malitao Elementary School, Grade
Beneficiaries 4 pupils for the School Year 2020-2021.

This project will cost Php 2,400.00 for printing of reading materials to be
