PURPOSE:
This assignment is divided into two parts. The purpose of the first assignment is to expose
learners with critical thinking and decision-making skills. While, the purpose of the second
assignment is to enhance learners’ problem solving skills through one of the problem-
solving tools before making a decision.

ASSIGNMENT 1: ESSAY (40 MARKS)


Assuming you are a warehouse assistant manager at a local car manufacturing company.
Since the warehouse is huge, you are unable to control the movement of your pickers (who
pick the spare parts from the shelves) and some of the pickers take a nap, talk on the
phone and so forth during the operation hours that lead to the delay of the picking
process. In short, they do not have a sense of urgency, therefore the spare part orders that
the warehouse receives from dealers or branches are not timely delivered. So far, there has
been no proper control of the work process starting from receiving the order, picking,
packing until the delivery process.

Based on the above case, apply your critical thinking skills and problem-solving by writing
an essay on controlling the delivering work process so that the spare parts can be delivered
timely. Your essay should include the following components:
1. Introduction
2. Identify the issue(s)/problem(s) of the case
3. Analyse and propose a solution
4. Conclusion
5. References

You are required to write a report about your own personal problem and propose a
solution to the problem. Think of any problem or issue at work or own personal life that
you are encountering now. You need a strategic solution for your problem.

Your report should be based on the following components:


1. Introduction: The objective of the report
2. Content:
i. Description of the issue/problem;
ii. Application of ONE problem-solving tool or decision-making strategy to solve
or decide on the issue/problem;
iii. Elaboration on the solution or decision of the issue/problem.
3. Conclusion – Summary of the report and self-reflection about the process of doing
the assignment.

TUJUAN:
Tugasan ini dibahagi kepada dua bahagian. Tujuan tugasan pertama adalah untuk
mendedahkan pelajar dengan kemahiran berfikir kritis dan membuat keputusan. Manakala
tujuan tugasan kedua adalah untuk meningkatkan kemahiran penyelesaian masalah pelajar

Andaikata anda ialah seorang penolong pengurus gudang di sebuah syarikat pembuatan
kereta tempatan. Oleh kerana gudang tersebut besar, anda tidak dapat mengawal
pergerakan picker (orang yang mengambil alat ganti dari rak) anda dan terdapat beberapa
picker yang tidur, berbual dalam telefon dan sebagainya pada waktu operasi yang
menyebabkan proses pengambilan menjadi lewat. Secara ringkasnya, mereka tidak
mempunyai rasa untuk bertindak segera, oleh itu pesanan alat ganti yang diterima oleh
gudang daripada pengedar atau cawangan tidak dihantar tepat pada waktunya. Sehingga
kini, tidak ada kawalan yang sesuai terhadap proses kerja bermula daripada menerima
pesanan, mengambil, membungkus hingga proses penghantaran alat ganti.

Berdasarkan kes di atas, aplikasikan kemahiran pemikiran kritikal dan penyelesaian masalah
anda dengan menulis sebuah karangan untuk mengawal proses kerja penghantaran supaya
alat ganti tersebut dapat dihantar tepat pada waktunya. Karangan anda mesti merangkumi
komponen berikut:
